Boarders in WA (Whidbey island)

just curious to get info. are there alot of riders up there, if so when does the season start and end. What are the goods lakes and the ones to stay away from? Thanks for the info...

I am from Seattle. There are North options for you. There is Lake Stevens and Lake Sammish (South of Bellingham). I talked to a guy one time though that lived on Whidbey and he kept his boat in Eastern WA.

You can ride all your round, it is cold and you need more than if you were riding year round in Sacramento. Average season for the average rider would be March/April to September/October. Depends on the year. This year we had great weather in March, I rode every weekend up at Lake Stevens, but the weather went kinda sour in August, so most stopped riding in September.

Lake Samish, Lake Whatcom and Big Lake are all great options for you within 30-45 minute drive. The last 2 years I have ridden from March 1st through the end of October.

does it really as much as people say? If I transfer up there it would in a year from now which is why I need as much info as possible.

Thanks for the lake info, do they freeze over? in the winter here I wear a wetsuit.

better invest in a drysuit.

The lakes don't freeze over in the coldest part of winter you may get ice around the edges. Like Joe said if you want to ride year round you will definitely need a drysuit.

I just recently found out I will be moving to the spokane area in about 3 months. I hope to start riding in Mar...too early on the eastern side of the state? Looking for as much lake information as I can get also. Do folks ride on the river in Spokane, and if so is it hazardous for your boat?

Greg - March in Spokane is still pretty cold - at least the water temps but possible to ride in. Regarding the Spokane river - you CAN ride on Long Lake (part of the river that is dammed).
My bro has a place about 1.5 hours north of Spokane that's always butter. Let me know if you need someone to ride with..}
