I'm looking to upgrade from my deep v i/o chaparral to a more wakeboard specific boat. Problem is, I only have about $25k to spend (kid in college), so that leaves me with used. I'm looking for a v-drive for the space and wake quality and size are important. This type of question probably gets posted a million times, but I could sure use some help on which boats to consider. Thanks for the help.

I woul get a 1995 super sport nautique and pimp it out and put SANTE graphics on it. It has the same hull that the SANTE has. I would also add some weight to it 1000 or so, maybe more depending on prop and engine.

you might be able to find around a 2000-01 Malibu VLX for about that.

Another option is an older Maristar. Weighted correctly and with a tower the ride is nice. Plus most of these boats don't have many hours and weren't abused (older non-wakeboarding owners). Check out my profile for mine. I have alot less than 25k in mine.

here's a Maristar for you.

Also saw a 2000 CC Super Sport, but it's in CT and would probably cost at least 1k to ship it to you in CA. But it was in your price range.

I've recently noticed the moomba Kamberra. It's a 22 footer made in the early 2000's and it looks pretty nice. Aparently the same hull as the mob v.
I,ve seen a bunch priced in the high teens on boattrader, it might be worth looking at.

i'm not sure, is the Kamberra the same hull as the pre 03 mobius? I think they changed the hull for 04 and the 03 mobuis hull is the current outback hull. I might be way off on that though... anyone?

Thanks for the feedback. I've ridden behind a friends Maristar 230v, he added fat sacks to the rear last season. Any suggestions on the best way to weight an older '00 or '01 mc Maristar or should I just concentrate on boats with built in ballast?

I second a used 205V. Im partial to that hull, but that wake is one of the best in the business. Honestly, I would stick with the Supersport or the Prostar hull. The maristar does not get as big and clean as the SS or PS.

I run about 1000lb total in the back and 500 up front, with 80' of rope and 4-5 people at 22 mph and its a very solid, lippy fun sized wake. My 200 VRS which was changed (same hull) to a 210 VRS in 99 is the same hull as what used to be the X-10.

I personally couldn't find anything less than 25k that had automatic balast and it's just something I look forward to in my next boat (if the wife will ever allow).

Any thoughts on a Centurian with the "air warrior" package. Seems like a lot of the right stuff and usually priced lower than the boats mentioned.

I just picked up my buddies 1999 Air Nautique for $23 new upholstery, very clean, 600 hours. They are out there just look for what you want and stick to your price.

ive heard great things about the centurion air warrior...section of "watersports retailer"..."with the ski centurion air wairror elite vdrive c-4, you get everything you wan in a v-dive boat. at low speeds, you get a sweet ramp perfect for stomping your latest wakeboard trick, lay into the throttle alittle bit, and watch the wake disappear, leaving a black canvas for your slalom ski. the wraparound seating feels like a floating living room, with a built-in cooler and SonyCD stereo to seal the deal, Standard features include..12 volt dc power outlets, ACME prrp, adjustable wake plate, automatic blige, built-in insulated cooler, center ballast, driver seat with bolster, MERCUISUER 350 MAG w/ MPI (huge)..snap out marine grade carpet, tilt wheel, and a tower..jsut to name a few"...

sounds like a hell of a boat at a hell of a price, i say go with the air warrior for the money..entry level starts right around $30,000

You might want to check this out. It's in Sonora which is relatively close to you.
Unfortunately it's not the new hull but it is a mastercraft v drive. http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/1/9/88165819.htm

or this one which is the new style. you could get it shipped and it would probably still be less than the 25K you wanted to spend.

Is $26k a good price for '98 Maristar 225VRS with 170 hours. It has no tower or ballast.

Brad,
Take a look at the Sanger V210. It's a very solid boat and the wake is outstanding.

You should be able to find a 00-02 in that price range or less.

Brad, whatever you look at, make sure to bring it by & have us check it out. Both on & off the water.
