So when i crashed and got ripped out of my boot, i completely tore my Anterior Talofibular Ligament (ATL) from the bone. This is a ligament of the ankle that connects the fibula (lateral ankle bone) to the talus. Now i need surgury to reattach the ligament to the bone with a screw. 6 weeks in a boot, then 6 weeks rehab. I'm so bummed right now. This seems like such a strange injury for wakeboarding any thoughts guys?

Never heard or anyone getting that injury before. What kind of bindings were you using? It seems like there is something with the binding that could have caused this.

Ronix cells. The laces were completely tight when I got back in the boat so the force of my foot twisting through the ankle hole did it.

Not suprising... I've gotten some really hard yanks and not come out of my bindings in the past. I've now got one ankle that has limited range of motion because of a bad sprain on a crash where I ended up 1/2 in/out. I think this type of injury will become more common as bindings get taller and stiffer.

Bummer man. Do your rehab and you'll be back on the water in no time.
