Definitely much easier and safer than strapping an HVX200 to a 12ft boom on the bow of a boat!!! ;-D

The GoPro Cameras are definitely siCk and every crew should have one.. just remember that they don't float, so if you're attaching one to your board (or helmet) you better add a floaty..

Thanks for the tip! Haven't tried it out on the water yet, only on a bicycle. Looking forward to using the helmet mount next time I go wakeboarding or windsurfing.

How would this work if also used as an in boat camera for shooting wake?

It won't. There's no zoom. It would suck, bigtime. It's perfect for stuff that's happening within 10-25', but beyond that it's all background.

i would love one of these. my biggest complaint is that they dont offer one without the fisheye lens. grr.
id own a HD 16:9 standard lens in a heartbeat! especially if it had true 60 fps

I just bought mine yesterday and I love it so far. can someone help me though I have a PC with the new windows or whatever but I can view the videos and they are all MPEG4, I tryed using Windows movie maker and Adobe Premier 6.0 but that video format doesnt work, so I converted it to Windows video but its not highdef then. what should I convert the video to or can I change it on the camera?

Jesse, Streamclip should work for you.http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html I haven't used it, but I've heard it's good and there are other free downloads available online if you search. My Hero works flawlessly with my MacBook and Im sure it will work with windows if you have the right software for conversion. It's not changeable on the camera. As for what to convert it to, I'm not sure , maybe WMV. Somebody please correct me if that's wrong.

Here's two links that will help you. http://sababike.com/articles/edit-go...-hd-windows-7/
http://www.any-video-converter.com/p...or_video_free/

And I was wrong about WMV, it's AVI.

Typically you want to use the format that is native to your OS

.avi for PC
.mov for MAC

For example.. I can playback the GoProHD .mov's on my PC without any problems, but when it comes time to edit.. that's another story. Even with Premiere CS4 I have to use Cineform NEOScene to convert my clips to an .avi, but it costs $99..

I've seen a lot of recommendation for Streamclip video converter on other sites, so you probably can't go wrong with it. Plus it's free.

Used the Hero for the first time on the water today and should have a video posted soon. In the meantime here is a screenshot from a clip.

J, both your video posts work. I wish I could jump like you, at 54 years old my knees just can't handle it but I do what I can on the surface. Enjoyed your video!
