Hey guys I'm looking into maybe buying a snowboard for this year. I learned how to snowboard last year for the first time and I'll be getting a chance to hit the slopes again this Christmas. Can any of you point me in the right direction as to what kind of board/bindings/boots to get?

Purpose: Freeride
Gender: Male
Stance: Regular
Height: 6'1''
Weight: 175lbs
Shoe Size: 12 (US)

Let me know if you can help me out here or point me in the right direction!

Check craigslist. I picked up a used Burton Custom 162 last year and couldn't be happier.

Walt what model year is yours? Got any pics?

Should I be looking at something around the 162 size? Also should I be looking at wide boards only?

Anyone else got any opinions?

Check out www.the-house.com too, they've usually got some decent deals too. HUGE selection. and if i remember right, they have an online chat for asking questions. If not give 'em a call and they're extremely helpful.

Also go to a shop and try on as many boots as you can (with the socks you'll be riding with), see if they fit the bindings you want correctly as well.

Be careful on how wide a board you get if you go wide. I ride with size 12 boots and my first board was a Nitro Magnum. That board has a 272mm waist width and rides like a big fat pig.

Try to keep the width around 260-262mm. Wider is not better.

I am 6'2" 195lbs and ride a 162cm. board. I dont ride any park.
