So for christmas i'm getting my dad a camcorder and was wondering what you think about the canon hf200. He will film mainly wakeboarding vacations maybe snowboarding so I was thinking sd card instead of hard drive memory. Will the avchd be hard to edit on a dual core 1 gig of ram, with vista. Any other suggestions?

Thanks Jack,

I think that you will have a hard time editing on that rig...I think most are saying about 3+ GB of ram will be needed to support the format, and that Vista does not support AVCHD out of the box. You will probably need to use a different application.

I am going to get a new camera soon too...I am upgrading my box to a quad core with 8 GB of RAM just so that I can make sure that editing will work. Oh and I am putting Windows 7 on there as well which supports AVCHD out of the box.
