I Have a 2000 pro air nautique with a GT-40 I run about 1100 pounds of weight. If we go out with 4 riders I will go thu 30 gallon in a couple of hours. I thought it was burning a lot of fuel cause it was not broken in yet, it has 140 hours on it now and my buddy has the same boat a year older his does not burn near the same amount and runs the same weight. I know wakeboarding burns a lot of fuel but my boat goes thru more than all of my friends.

That sounds way high to me, our VLX will go all day plus on the 35 gal. tank although we only run full ballast with 2 of the four riders.

I run my X-Star with the 33 gallon tank all day. We usually run with factory and an additional 500-1000lbs. We will run pretty solid for 9-10 hours on the tank.

In between pulls do you race around looking for good H2O? On my boat high speed operation is what sucks the gas down fast. If we just tow and cruse gas goes farther. 1.5 days/ tank.

wow, thats a lot of gas in 2 hours.. I got a 45 gallon tank in my X-10 and I can spend 2 days with it at the lake and only burned half a tank, but then again I haven't used the ballast much yet.. I am trying to get use to wakeboarding first...

we guzzle about 6 gal/hr with my boat, wedged and heavily loaded down

Our X-10 is predictable at 6-7 gallons per hour weighted with KGB and 550 fatsack in bow and 4-5 passengers.

I believe the fuel pressure regulator is adjustable on those motors. Might be worth it to have it checked, which is a simple task, and if needed adjusted.

I would have thought the egine would run like a dog if it was using that amount of fuel. You'd see loads of black smoke from the exhaust and your plugs would foul up in no time.

Are you sure your measurments are correct?

I run about 2000lbs in my MC and only use around 4-5 gallons per hours if we ski constantly.

I've got a 2000 Air w/ PCM 5.7 engine and only burn about 5 gal / hr. That's with about 1500lbs of weight. You should definitely get it checked.

While we're on the subject, are there any gas guages that are accurate on boats.
We have run our Xstar out of gas 3 times this summer. Fortunately we are on a small lake.
The guage reads full then drops to empty.
When it reads empty you better be heading for the dock.
We had our dealer look at it and they said it is functioning fine.

I look at the hours before we go out and go off of that. I go off of 5 gallons an hour 30 gallon gas tank. I got 6 hours of fun on the lake and more than enough to make it back to the docks. You'll never run out of gas that way.

My old boat used to have a super charger on it and would go through about 9-10 gallons per hour

It was really frustrating, we went to lake powell and it was just rediculous, we put in 12 gallons of gas (it wasn't even empty when we put it in) to get back to the harbor (20 miles away) and ran out of gas 10 miles out.

However with my new boat after we serviced everything and got a valve job I've been out for three hours before and only used 6 gallons! Thats with 6 people and 1800 pounds. Needless to say I love this boat.

I have found that the best way to be safe and fair for gas costs is just to fill it every single time we finish. Makes life simple and avoids the whole "Here's three bucks, thanks for the day on the lake."

5 gal/hr pulling riders. 45 gal/hr at full throttle getting to the good water. 7 gal/hr getting to the good water at 30 MPH. How do you drive?

I only run the boat at 27 to 30 mph when not boarding. Just wanted to if anybody elese had any problem like this. If it was fuel presure set to high are what.
