I am obligated to running Kicker.

1-15" L7 amp.1- ZX1500.1
6-8" L7 amp. 3- ZX1500.1
4 Wetsounds Pro 80's amp. 2- ZX850.2 ( I know it is overkill on power but, they are tuned way down.)
WS-420
4-sets of Kicker KS 6.5 amp. 1- ZX850.4
I am having the KS speakers replaced as we speak with Kicker SS components.
the KS speakers did not sound right for the caliber of the rest of the system.

4 Kinetik 2400 Batteries.
Pioneer DEH-7000BT head unit.
Pioneer marine controller.

FYI if you are considering using Pioneer head units, you can only use 1 marine controller with LCD display. I bought 2 and after they cut the hole on the transom they found out Pioneer head units only allow 1 controller. You could use up to 5 controllers if they do not have a display.

HOLY SHNIZZ!

That is a great sound system I really like what you did with those six 8" subs and the 15 under the dash looks killer

Your windshield looks tinted in your profile. Is it 35%?
Old     (echo_parker)      Join Date: Feb 2008       06-02-2008, 4:20 PM Reply
No the subs are not ported. Should they be? I don't run the stereo when my son is in the boat.

38% I took it off, it was a terrible job. I am going to get it done over.

Thank you for all the compliments.

explain to me how you mounted those subs under the seat? i wanted to do something like that, but i didnt think it was plausible. if you have any pics of the box you made for them, or how you mounted them, id love to see. thats probably the sickest system ive seen in a boat!
Old     (cavlxenvy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       06-02-2008, 6:32 PM Reply
solobarics are louder if ported but sound cleaner if they are in a closed box.

Nice set up man.
Old     (cavlxenvy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       06-02-2008, 6:35 PM Reply
Can you even open the seat lids above the solobarics? I wanted to do something similar but realized that the seats hit the grills and you can only open about half way.

Once the boxes were made They were sent to Line-X for 2 layers for strength and water proofing.

Once the boxes were made the were fiberglassed to the kick panel of the boat.

I gave up opening those 2 seats. They open about 2 feet and are pretty useless.

I also had templates of the back hatches made and used 1" MDF and had them Line-X for the additional weight.

Once I get pics of the amps I will post them, although you can only see 2 amps.

I had a amp rack fabricated out of metal that is tucked in the cubby. There are 5 amps mounted on it. The rack was designed to be shock absorbant.

How is your charging system/ECM holding up with all those electronics? I know Malibu's are real finicky with amperage and you cannot really upgrade the alternator.

Sorry to mislead you I did not install the system myself. I got all the equipment from Kicker and they recommended a really good stereo shop.

I don't have time nor the wiring skills to pull off a system like this.

The system is completely independent from the boat. I can drain the batteries and it does not affect the boat.

So this may be a dumb question, but does the system through off your wake at all?
Old     (nwsjake10)      Join Date: Feb 2007       06-03-2008, 9:57 AM Reply
Zach, I kind of wondered the same thing. I mean 8 subs on the port side, probably weighs it down some-what. And with 4 batteries, even more weight right?
Old     (zleartsu)      Join Date: Mar 2004       06-03-2008, 11:25 AM Reply
Don't get me wrong is a sick set up! one of the bigges I have ever seen! Just wondering!
Old     (jv210)      Join Date: Feb 2006       06-03-2008, 12:12 PM Reply
Zach, I can say I have a LSV with 4 2400 kinetics on that same side and it definitely makes the boat list to that side. I can definitely see the wake affected, but now I just don't fill the left side tank as much as the right.

Anthony your boat looks like it sits even in he water, where do you have you batteries at.
Old     (echo_parker)      Join Date: Feb 2008       06-03-2008, 1:54 PM Reply
I had the system designed from the ground up as far as weight. I have all the batteries in the back hatch behind the driver (roughly 280lbs.) I weigh about 200lbs. 2 amps are above the 15" L7 on a metal rack. roughly 150lbs.
I have 300lbs. of wire running down the port side of the boat to the batteries. 5 of the amps and 8" subs on the port side balance the boat.

There is roughly 800 plus lbs. of stereo equipment.

I plan on buying lead to spread around if I need it. Overall the boat sits pretty level.

Nice system, How do you or did you get around the subs canceling each other out. Everytime I see or hear a system with sub's fireing into each other like you have there has been a problem with one sub's sound wave knocking out the other. What did you do to get around this problem. I know all boats are diffent and you might not even have had this problem?
Old     (wake1823)      Join Date: Dec 2005       06-03-2008, 2:14 PM Reply
would 8's even cancle out a 15...they should be playing at differnet frequencies. A little overlap , but not much, I could understand some cancelattion with the same speakers.
Old     (zleartsu)      Join Date: Mar 2004       06-03-2008, 3:06 PM Reply

Keep the methheads away from your boat they'll be robbing it for the wire.

Yea I was curious about the 300 Pounds of wire also.LOL Jarrod Im guessing its a Typo

It's not a typo 300lbs. of wire.

They used 6 spools of Kicker wire, each spool was over 45 lbs.

As far as subs canceling each other out, I have not noticed.

Did they charge you by the Spool?

Why is that hard to believe?
Old    Ben Kerran            06-04-2008, 6:58 PM Reply
There is no way there is anywhere near 300 lbs of wire in that boat. That is a nice set up however. I would have the same questions about subs canceling. Are there more 8" subs directly across from the ones in picture #2? or are all of them on the passenger side?
Old     (seaswirlmike)      Join Date: Nov 2003       06-04-2008, 9:23 PM Reply
I'm not saying its not true either just hard to believe there could possibly be 300lbs. think about going to the gym or something of equivalent weight. that's equal to more then six 45lb plates on the bar or how about if they were jl 13w7's at 52lbs a piece that's about the weight of SIX in wire..... once again not saying its impossible just unlikely. on a side note everything else looks really bad a$$. you have a nice set up. I've seen a few of the 247's out lately with some massive stere set ups. lots of room to work with
Old     (sydwayz)      Join Date: Mar 2003       06-04-2008, 10:40 PM Reply
50' coil of 1/0 power wire 24lbs each.
Old     (grant_west)      Join Date: Jun 2005       06-05-2008, 1:13 PM Reply
Ok Ill try to do the math this should be pretty funny.
Let's just say his whole boat is wired with 0-AGW wire. The thickest heavyest wire. That would be 650 feet of O-AGW. If you use Sydways # of 24 pounds per spool. Thats 13 spools @ 50 foot per spool. That's a run of wire 28 times longer than your boat or 1.23 of a mile long

Anthony: Are you still sure you have 300 pounds of wire for your stereo?
Old     (jason_b)      Join Date: Feb 2008       06-05-2008, 1:46 PM Reply

"G" you got me, sh%t I give up .....your great math skills have really cornered me. I was really hoping that you would of been impressed with 300lbs. of wire so maybe you would be my friend.
Get over it Pal, whether it is 100 or 200 or 300lbs. who cares. I don't understand guys like you that feel you need to prove someone wrong.
Why could'nt you be ok with the fact that someone has something nice.
All I know is 6 spools of 0-AWG cobalt blue power AND ground were used.
What it all comes down too is Who Cares?
Move on.

Chill brother, Its all good. Congrats to you and your new system and all it's 300 Lbs of wire. LOL
I think you have a real sweet system and I wasent trying to rain on your paraide. Or be one of the Jerks you were talking about. I just thought you messed up on a Zero or somthing and I was having fun with ya and the number's so like you said I guess it dosen't matter, And it dosent matter that you don't know what your talking about and I do another Joke so go easy! But serious. Who cares 30 or 300 Lbs no big deal I still think your boat is cool and you have a nice system. Hell if it pounds I will go ahead and try adding some extra wire to my system god know's I need the extra weight.
Sorry if I came off like I was picking on you.

Anthony,

We have 4 couples total coming so it should be a pretty good time. We'll be in Friday afternoon coming home Sunday.

I have a friend with a house in Parker as well, but I've never been. Isn't the water pretty rough there for boarding?

The water is really good if you get up early; We ride 6:00 to 8ish then we come back to the house and make breakfast, by the time we get back on the water it's all chop.

You have to ride early and in the evening.

Have fun this weekend
