My buddy is going to be selling his 95 T100 soon and I was thinking if it could launch my boat I might buy it from him. I only need it to pull my boat about 2 miles, and launch it in the water. Boat is a 03 SAN 210. So it is kinda heavy. Anyways, do you think that a 2x4 3.4L V6 would struggle pulling that thing out of the water. I guess my biggest concern is the rear end since it is not 4x4 and just not enough torque to get it off the ramp. Anyone ever towed w/ an old school T100? Obviously a 4x4 1500 truck would be ideal...but I can probably get this for cheap and he is the original owner.

Thanks
chris

Well I have towed my Supra SunSport with my 01 4Runner and the only problem I had was after a while it started sagging in the rear because of the coil springs but as for towing it did just fine

4 wheel drive is not necessary unless you have a really steep ramp or dirt ramp or anything. I have never had a 4wd and pulled more boats than i can count to and from the water. I even pulled a 24ft crownline 15 miles to the river and pulled it out and back with my old 1997 dodge 6 cyl. 2wd.

the key is does that truck have the power to pull it up. mine was a 4.3L. a 3.4 is a whole diffent story. If he is your buddy he should let you try to pull the boat with it one day. just have another friend with a tow strap and a bigger truck just incase. the tires will prolly start to peel out before it messes up the rear end.

That bein said. Id look for something with a little larger engine. like a 4.3 or some other larger V-6.

Traction, not torque will be your issue. Is it a steep ramp?

I had a 96 T-100 with the 3.4L and towed my buddys 97 sunsetter vlx 50 miles to the lake with no problem. I was actually quite impressed with the towing capabilities. But like Nick said your bro should let you try it out.

yeah i would try it out, but it doesn't have a receiver on it. It just has one of those ghetto ones that is bolted to the bumper, and I know my boat will rip off his bumper.

I think it should not have a problem, that truck is rated at like 190hp and 220 torque.

It is just a really reliable truck, I was originally looking at old ford diesels but those are much more and have around 200+k on them.
