Lake Elsinore is closed at least through the weekend according to "Lake Operations". The big water plane landed there yesterday and is anchored on the south end, I assume they are going to use it at some point but for now its just sitting there.

troy...is that plane still there and is the lake still closed? Looking to get out and ride tomorrow and was hoping to avoid all the wind down at Vail...

The plane, upon landing, hit bottom and has been stuck in the mud for the last ten days- they're thinking of dredging the lake to a depth of 48" so they can get the plane out.............

Troy, our lake is plenty deep and full of water if you can stand the 40 degree water and chance of snow :-(

Winterized this weekend and done til spring

no i'm not serious. Can you imagine how much dredging it would take to make Lake Elsinore 48" deep?

And how would you get the plane out of there in 48" water....that doesn't make sense. You would have to drain it completely so the plane could take off on it's wheels. They would fill the lake to get the plane out before draining it. Besides, it's already less than 48" in most areas!! More like 12".

Is Elsinore still CLOSED? I'm itching to go out. I hope the plane is still there so I can use it as a slider.

Lake still closed today and nothing was posted to the city website today as promissed. Friday we heard that they may open up on Tuesday but i think they are waiting for 100% containment of the Santiago fire. We are waiting for CAL-FIRE to release the lake. The Plane is still there but hasent moved for several days.
Watching that lake fully glassed over with no traffic the last 7 straight days has really been tough. I had to turn my desk the other way to stop looking at it

Brooke, 40 degrees!!! I havent even hunted out a sweatshirt yet.
