I found a window mounted Malibu Bimini on this site for $350 bucks it's being shipped to me and should be here this weekend. Anyone done this install before anything to worry about?

The boat is a 2003 Malibu vlx The Bimini is a Malibu bimini built by the great lakes boat top company.

I got the bimini from a private party that got an upgraded tower on their 2005 and had the bimini still in the plastic.

Careful!
This from two guys on the MC site.
Bimini install gone bad!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received my bimini from coversearch last night and went to work on the install. I was drilling the holes for the mounting brackets on the bottom part of the side windows and BOOM, the side window shattered.

I thought for sure I had cleared the bottom of the glass but aparently not.

I took aprt the side windshield frame (that was alot of fun) and took it to a glass shop. The side glass is curved so they are going to try and order it. If they can't get it I will have plexiglass put in for now as I leaveing on vacation, with the boat, on Thursday.

Anybody have a driver side glass for a 1994 205? Ya I know, keep dreaming.....Gosh do I feel stupid right now!

I did the same thing on my 93. I was just below the glass but hit it none the less. Cleaned it out the best I could and so far no casualties. Every time I hit a wake I expect the windows to explode. I believe I cleaned out enough of the glass to keep that from happening. Let me know who has this glass and if it can be ordered. Just in case. It does look much cooler where I mounted the bimini. I can't believe the glass goes that deep.
