Teak platform & trans fluid

I had a detailer come to the house and do some work on my boat. He saw the teak swim platform in the garage. I have cleaned it up and it is about ready to get oiled. He says he used trans fluid prior to teak oil. Does anyone have experience with this?

i know someone who did that because the boat was in the water so much and the trans fluid is cheaper. i saw no problems with it. looked just as good

A little ATF probably won't hurt the water.

never heard of that. i've done just teak oil for many many many years. looks great. let us know how it turns out (if you decide to try it)
