I'll be taking delivery of my new baby....guess the vasectomy didn't work. There are some pretty sweet changes in the 2005 model. Billet dash, new tower, and racks that swivel into the boat. I'll be pimpin it out with the new JL audio setup with 4 tower speakers and the dual battery, tower lights (4 Rear, 2 Front), red fiberglass platform (Teak too much work), transom remote, heater, tandem trailer, and a lot of the usuals. Me likey likey

Mark Michelini (Midwest Militia/Riverview Marine) and Mastercraft are really hooken me up for the problems I had on my boat. I've asked for production pics as it goes thru. If they sendem I'll postem up. I should get it on July 26/27...happy birthday to me

ahhh...can't believe I forgot that. The entire hull and gelcoat will be viper red with the red accent. And I have the MCX engine.

Sounds great...what's it going to set you back? Is that the big block option (add 4k)? I've been pricing an '05 Malibu VLX and it's running 46 to 50k.

Wow i want to see picks of that, I always liked the solid scheme. Sage the MCX is the 350 hp small block, the 8.1 will set you back about 12 grand but we love ours!

What happened to your X-Star?

I had cracks running vertical and horizontal just above the rubrail. They just came back for the third time. Could be the local repair shop or from when the boat was put together...doesn't matter to me. I also went through a tough time as a customer when the local dealer and Mastercraft parted ways. Lets just say I've had a rough 1 1/2 years as a new boat owner that no one should have.

Mark Michelini helped create the Midwest Militia and the yearly BootCamp event here in Illinois and recently picked up Mastercraft. Between him and the regional rep they took care of everything. Best of all it only took one phone call. NO BS back and forth...talk about customer service. I'll be a MC customer for life if they keep service like that coming.

The black and orange background on the X2 graphic can peel off revealing the red hull. I'll probably do that. I gotta photoshop the pic and see what it will look like....any volunteers cause I suck at editing?

Figures they come out with a new boat one month after I got mine! It's funny, the Malibu dealer swore up and down to me that the X2 was being discontinued after '04. Good choice on the color, there aren't many boats that stand out like SOLID Viper Red.

I heard Mastercraft was up for sale. I was down looking at the new X-10 and was told that the investors are pulling out and the whole management was going to be restructured. Also they told me that there is another pickle fork 22 footer on it's way. Anyone else hear this? I guess I will be waiting to see the 22 foot pickle fork!!!!!
Old     (kristian)      Join Date: Nov 2002       07-01-2004, 11:54 PM Reply
I heard there's gonna be another pickle fork aswell. I also heard they were going to stop the X2 (thats obviously wrong)

Nice boat BTW John.

Darren, thanks for the work...

Joe, I love the look of the solid red. It was a tough choice to break from my yellow but after seeing your pic I know I made the right choice.

Stef, If only I had the weather you guys have...this year has sucked. After getting the cracks fixed the second time I went to pick up my boat and found someone had vandalized my boat by putting a couple gouges into the deck. Two days later when I went to show it to the owner I found another long knife cut from front to back right thru the middle of the hull. This will defenitly make up for the tough year.

kristian, I heard a bunch of those rumors as well. I really don't see them making too many drastic changes to this boat. It's the best boat in the lineup IMHO...especially since it's the one that sits in my driveway

that boat looks SWEEET!! i have a question though. where will you be able to add additional board racks on that tower? on the '04's and earlier, you could add on on the horizontal bar right above the existing board racks.

John,

Sorry to Hear about all the problems with the Boat. Glad to see that you found a quality dealer in Riverview Marine that takes care of customers.

Anyway, now that the Fox is open we will be riding on Saturday Morning and 1-2 nights a week on the river Starting Next Thursday (going to out of town till Weds night). If you need a pull to tide you over, drop me an email.

Take care.

Sweet looking boat John, congrats! My MC dealer was telling me about the new throttle by wire with MasterCraft Cruise and how sweet it was going to be.

Sorry about your last year and a half, but it sounds like there is going to be a very happy ending.

I've got a 2003 X-2 that I picked up early this year that I just love.

Have fun and be safe.

Its not called a picklefork, its called a cathedral hull design. Pickle fork would be if it had 2 v's under the water line.

Ah Solid Red is Pimpin!

micheal There's a post on the tech forum at http://www.mymastercraft.com/ and I think they said it is going to have the fork front. That site is run by the dealer in Charlotte, NC I think.

22 days or 528 hours or 31680 minutes or 1900800 seconds till I get my boat....I think it will feel like 1900800 seconds because that will feel longer.

You are lucky Jared, I waited 138 days from deposit till delivery of my boat in 03. It was a loooooooong time, just ask my wife.

I love the Mastercraft colour selector for 04, I hope the 05 is similar. Here is the colours I would get if I was lucky enough to be ordering one.
Ohhhhh, I need a lie down.

I don't know about you guys but I'm diggin the new tower. I like how the racks swivel into the boat.

guys, just checked out John's shots on the link. The boat looks pretty bad ass as usual but not sold on the tower. It looks so high and surely without a windscreen height cross bar on each side of the tower I reckon it'll move/flex loads ... hope they got some seriously large metal plates and extra support under the deck to prevent any gel coat cracks/issues!!

I'm not sold on the tower either, i really don't like it at all but the MC X2 looks sweet in Viper Red!

John,

Sorry about the delay in feedback. I've been out of town. Anyways, still contemplating the wakefest Trip. If I do go I can only make it out there for Saturday during the day. But if the crew wants to I will drag the boat down since its only 2 hours from the house.

Just let me know if you need a pull.

Something I just noticed. Not to start any boat wars, even though I think some people can't help it, I found this interesting. Looking at the new X2 with the new tower it has very similar lines as the new XLV. The tower lines and the windshield jump out at me. The XLV doesn't look as deep as the X2 in the pic but believe me, the pic is very deceiving. I would say the XLV is definately deeper than the X2. Like I said, just something I noticed when I was reading this post and the pic of the X2 reminded me of the XLV. The pics are on my next post.

Kraig, keep in mind that the XLV has 2'5" on the X2 so a picture like this where the XLV appears smaller is going to be misleading. The XLV actually has a 4" deeper draft and the XLV in the water looks considerably deeper than the X2...this looks a little more accurate

To an extent, just about every tower looks similar.

Not bashing the XLV because I like the boat, but MC got the design from this:

Go to http://www.mymastercraft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=223 and check out the pics posted by Charlotte Mastercraft. They even have a video of the tower folding down and the racks swiveling in. That boat doesn't have PerfedtPass but it has Mastercrafts own version. I did not want to try MC's first attempt at PP and I went with the tried and true PP.

What are the chances that the JL sub is actually in a sealed box?
Old     (evil_e)      Join Date: May 2004       07-26-2004, 10:19 AM Reply
The JL sub won't reach anywhere near its potential if it's not in a sealed box.
Old     (ktm250)      Join Date: Jan 2003       07-27-2004, 7:38 AM Reply
The sub was designed for MasterCraft by JL Audio as an exclusive (along with the boat speakers, tower speakers (yes they are different) and amps). It is an "infinite baffle" design and was never intended to be put in a sealed enclosure.

Sure this type of installation is not as efficient at producing the lowest frequencies as second order and higher enclosures. It was designed to be the best sounding system for dollars invested…remember also this is a production line application.
