Thought that I would start another thread for all us youngins too discuss whatever and post up some sweet pics. Just wondering who is still here from the last thread, and who's new. So post up your age, maybe your bag of tricks, possibly your hometown, and anything else.

STILL HERE!

I got pictures as well but they will go on later.

Wakeboarding:

All base inverts grabbed and tweaked.

All frontside spins switch and regular up to 540's. All backside spins except the switch toeside backside 3.

Favorite Rail trick: backlip 270 out

Wakeskate:
Bigspin's (backside)
360 shuvs
w2w backside 180's and grabbed frontside 180's,
w2w shuv-it, and w2w shuv indy.

favorite rail trick: Back board to frontside bigspin out on inclines.

And i'm now riding for Ronix Wakeboards, so go out and buy their stuff! It's way more fun than filling up your gas tank!

Um, yes and no Trevor.

The shop I ride for in Arkansas already worked with the rep, so he knew about me through them. But he got to see me ride, and landing on the podium in Open Skate certainly didn't hurt. I called him a few weeks later and worked something out then.

It was a huge honor, because I have been a fan of Ronix ever since I started riding their gear last year. I'm just glad I got an oppurtunity to ride for a company I used to dream about riding for.

By the way, I'm 16; forgot to mention that earlier :-)

Whats the deal with the rail on Lake Clay? I see it driving by on 27 next to a house but I've never seen it used before? Do you know the people that built it?

It's weird there are all those lakes there and it seems like there are zero riders.

its funny that you mentioned that. thats my rail. and the dock next to it is mine with the navy blue x-9 mastercraft. the only reason you dont see it being used is because i moved and 99% of the people on that lake are old too. but again i'll be moving back soon. if you ever want to go for some runs on the boat and rail. send me a pm with your number

Brand, good to see you man!

Nat's is at the Doubletree in Bakersfeild this year, and the people there are nice, so I doubt we will get our security gaurd shenanigans this time around :-(. But i'm glad to see your riding outlaw, i'm finishing my last year as a wakeboarder in outlaw, and next year i'm skating full time.

I think the Liquid Force Armada is good, thats what Caleb was recomending in the last thread. It also depends on whether you want to do more w2w tricks (which the armada is good for because of teh molded in fins) or surface tricks (maybe an LF Control).

By the way, I don't skate, although I want to. I can't talk my dad into it because he says I should only wakeboard, and not waste my time trying to learn something new. I just tell him I need diversity.

Nope, Chris, I have changed my mind, but brownie points for remembering :-)

The Zariel is simply the most amazing skate I have ever been on. Rails, wake, flats, it's crazy. I have never been on such a controlled and smooth skate. I mean, I am landing tricks I had no idea I could, almost like it's nothing.

pic's and videos of said tricks soon to come
Old     (bartush)      Join Date: Jan 2007       05-15-2008, 7:54 PM Reply
yea i skate too. i love it.

although i have a 05 byerly, it just hasnt been cutting it. im either guna go for a Zariel or a integ TNT or lemons. havent decided yet. not sure if im the bi-level type guy.

but yea i recommend looking at other strictly only wakeskate companies, because they have a lot of good boards, and often get overlooked.

the Lf Maven is a good skate, from 07. also take a look at Oak, Devotid, and some other companies. I recommend going on Wakeskating.com , there are a lot of people who can help you out and give you some pointers on water dancing there.

TS FS 180's, HS 180s sometimes, take some grabs tweaked into the flats, shiftys, That's about it.

Ride in Southern Wisconsin and close to the Chain in Illinois when i can

Hey sleeze, i'm at about the same level you are at. I've landed 360's and got them pretty consistent last summer, and am getting back into the groove of things. Hopefully I will be able to learn some sort of invert soon, its kinda pissing me off that i haven't yet. I was just wondering what your next tricks are going to be. I know i'm ready for a tantrum or backroll, I just need to get motivated.

do any of yall want to help me with a batwing. i throw it out an end up flipping over like a toeside backrole when i am trying o pull it down. i cant figure out how to square my shoulders to the boat with the board twisted out behind me. any help would be cool
Old     (dlwsrider)      Join Date: Apr 2007       05-16-2008, 3:26 PM Reply
Definantly demo the Zariel. Never thought I would be the bi-level type either, but after trying it, I was hooked. It's and incredable board, even if I did not ride for Ronix, I would recomend this skate.

Very rewarding, if you pop it well, it definantly gives back, especially wake to wake.
Old     (wkbdboi)      Join Date: Jun 2007       05-16-2008, 3:35 PM Reply
yeah caleb they are nice... but I dont think that there are guards there at all.

we will find something to do, or someone to run from. haha SECURITY!!!
Old     (bartush)      Join Date: Jan 2007       05-16-2008, 3:44 PM Reply
Jeff- i recommend not trying to do it right off the wake cuz that might flip you, and look at the top of the tower. but then again ive never done one so actually just make a thread about it.

Chris - me and sleez ride together all the time, and were basically at the same level. I've been trying some backrolls, i think they are the easiest. or front rolls seem pretty easy too, for me atleast. Hopefully ill land one this season!

btw. landing on your head usually doesnt hurt at all. just look at some pointers and go for it!

Well today I have a lesson and I will defineately be charging it and going for some new tricks.

Also, how hard are TS 360's? Are they much different than HS? Does it take long to get used to landing right after a handle-pass? Do they take long to land? Can they become consistent quite easily (compared to a HS 3)?
Old     (bartush)      Join Date: Jan 2007       05-16-2008, 4:31 PM Reply
i personally think trying toeside 3's are easier, just for me atleast. I've landed em before but handle always got ripped from my hand, much closer on those than heelside.
Old     (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       05-16-2008, 10:51 PM Reply
I think S/W T/S is the easiest.
Old     (brody)      Join Date: Jul 2006       05-17-2008, 8:19 AM Reply
Yesterday at my lesson it was one of the best sets I have ever had...the water was perfect, the boat had 3000+ pounds of ballast, and I was getting coached by a really rad guy. So I ended up going for a TS 3 and got SO close to it but never fully landed it. I would get the pop, rotation, and pass every single time, just was never able to land on my toes for some reason and would land on my heels and slide out. My instructor said I needed to stop my rotation earlier and look towards the shore, so I did, but always ended up off-axis. Anybody got some tips?

Here's a pic of my landing:

yesterday a friend of mine let me use his fish 134...it was so nice... i've been using a very old 142 hyperlite board...what a difference in pop i was having. i tried a heelside 3 a few times before and got pretty close. when i used the fish i got it on my first attempt with plenty of room to keep going. i am so stoked. going out today to try the 3 again
Old     (nickwakeninja)      Join Date: Nov 2007       05-17-2008, 1:01 PM Reply
hey chris. the t/s 3 that your tryin, when i first learned it i used to fall on my heels to. that happens because your rotating to soon off the wake before you pop so your board is in over your stomach. if you wait and go up and then rotate you will stay flat and land exactly how you left
Old     (watson_134_lf)      Join Date: Nov 2007       05-17-2008, 1:37 PM Reply
chris.....i had the same problem with landing those ts 3's........but i stopped doing them cuz i was at a camp, and got such a bad concussion when i got in the boat after catching my toeside, i forgot who i was riding with, or where i was. they scare the crap out of me now
Old     (dlwsrider)      Join Date: Apr 2007       05-18-2008, 8:42 PM Reply
The only frustrating thing about the toeside 3 is over rotating, once you train yourself to spin later and look for the shore, they get easier.

Trevor, did you ever land the switch toe 3? I saw you talking about it in another thread.
Old     (nickwakeninja)      Join Date: Nov 2007       05-18-2008, 9:44 PM Reply
well if your over rotating thats when you start throwin grabs on there. then you hold it there durin the spin and just keep holdin. let go at the last second before you land. land it blind and swing the arm around to grab the handle. thats always clean and puts some steez into it

Trevor, I got a tanny(semi consistent), hs fs 180, ts fs 180, indy, melon, methed, fashion air, tail grab, nose grab, and working on a backroll. I think that if I can stomp that Tanny consistant, and get some switch tricks I will definitely be ready by the first WWA.

I'm pretty stoked, I get to go up to Lake Nacimiento over memorial weekend. Hopefully there I will be able to get my TS 3 down, and i'm thinking about a hs bs 3 also. So what are your guys' bag of tricks? Here's what I have down:

Most grabs TS & HS
FS HS & TS 180's with most grabs
Method & indy/tail shifties
Heel 3

Thats about it, but i'm hoping to get a lot more this summer.

Cool matt, I still don't have a tanny consistent, I've landed 2 and I've tried nearly 100. I have a hs 3, semi cositent, a sw ts 3, consistent but for some reason fell on it at the DRA, and I almost have a HS 5.

Trevor, sw ts 3? That is siick!

I can get them about once every 3 tries.

I need some switch tricks too, any recomendations.

What division are you going to compete in?

im still here too! woo hoo i was wondering where this thread went..

chris on that toe 3, Dave Briscoe told me to try to seperate it into two 180s. one on the way up and the last one on the way down. he sed to pass the handle on the way down. i hav yet to landed tho haha. but he knows what he is talking about tho so im sure it will come thru sooner or later.
Old     (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       05-23-2008, 4:30 PM Reply
Matt, I'll be in Intermediate. My first switch trick was a switch heelside 180, it's easy. I could easily do a sw ts 5, I have to stop myself not to, but last time I skipped a step in the progression tree I couldn't get it back; I cannot do plain s/w h/s 2wake jumps, there HAS to be a 180 or else I just cant land.
