We set out for a early morning session at Folsom at 6:30am. By the time we lanched there was 5-6 other boats already out there tearing up the water, choppin it up, power turning, etc, etc. Its either time to find another lake, or hold out until drysuit season. Whats close & not so crowded? Nevermind dont post it, or that spot will get ruined too.

Sounds like an average weekend morning at Elsinore to me. We have to be on the water at daybreak to get in a decent day of riding.

Move to the South. I lived in Denver and on Chatfield it was the same story...if you weren't done with your sets by 8:00 a.m. you were chased away by all the wash from the 30-50 boats going clockwise around a big bathtub.

On Sundays in TN, I often find complete butter at 11:00 am. The snowboarding sucks in the South though

My wife and I are thinking of moving to the Folsom area. Is Folsom Lake that bad?
Old     (hillbilly)      Join Date: Aug 2002       06-17-2007, 11:49 AM Reply
Folsom area isnt bad but the lake is. But you are within 30-45 minutes from the river and it is not bad there when there's water. LOL

We stay far, far away of Elsi (or any lake) on weekends...unless I do Jesson and Gretchen's clinics on Sunday in the channel. 5 boats on Elsi and you have about a half hour of good water left.

I don't think i have ever had good water at Elsinore, but then again I have only been there on weekends.

We live El Dorado Hills about 1 mile from door to lake, which is great but Folsom can be the sh%^$ts if the timing is off , most of the time it is great ,week day or early. We went out today and @ 11 am there was already 87 boats needless to say it sucked....going again tuesday after work should be good

Thank god I ride on a river and dont have to tow the boat anywhere. I would hate having to pack up your the boat to the lake, and then find out that there are a million other boats on the lake already.

I'm not bitter, its just a part of riding, some days are better than others. Folsom is a wonderful lake, if the timings right, maybe early morning weekdays would be better?

I'm surprised there were that many at 6:30... was that at Rattlesnake? Folsom does basically suck on weekends but I think that is true for most lakes. It's kinda funny though.. it seems like folks are gung ho to start the season but it tapers off later in summer. Best bet for boarding is weekdays, and if you want to go on the weekend I'd stick to surfing or hangin out.

Marc,

Those conditions SUCKED!!!! I got out there at 8:30 AM and the wind was terrible. Yes, there were some powerturning being done (Not by me) but which fork did you go up? We were up the north fork.
Old     (fatsac)      Join Date: Jun 2004       06-18-2007, 10:11 AM Reply
LOL Marc! It really did suck and I was irritated by the whole night before and boat issues. Watching all the boats made me think of the posts on here from people looking to get into boating.
Buying the boat is easy. Waking up at 5:30 to enjoy decent water and constantly throwing money at it is another! I'll never give it up though...

yeah David, i remember seeing your boat out there, nice rig. I didnt see any power turns by you, but did you see that MB making Tsunami power turns?
Fatsac, its either a random breakdown payment, or a regular boat payment? bring your boat by tomarrow & I'll get that elec draw taken care of.
I guess its like the old saying,
"a bad day on the lake is better than a good day at work.

White and black MB???? Hell ya!!!!! There were a few other crazies out there also. The fishermen weren't really nice either about their wakes either.... Not to mention the f'ing yacht that tore threw that area also... OMG was that wake bad... I was going to take a set but waited until those rollers went by before I jumped in....

Do you ever ride in the middle of the week? if so maybe we should hook up. I'd love to ride behind that Tige! Fatsac's Sanger might be tied up for a few weeks.

No way is out for a few weeks. I'm sure it's something simple. Go easy on me, Marc! Don't I get a repeat customer discount? LOL
Kelly pointed out that we've been on it several times a week for three months.
Her: "What do you expect?"
Me: "For it to start every time!"
One thing's for sure, the wake did look good on Saturday.

It probably no big deal, just gotta make you stress a little, its payback for showing up late the other day. haha. The problem started when you had the new stereo/amp installed right? The wake looked good thanks my cars battery. I never heard you tell KITT thank you. How bout that burnout on the way out???.
Old     (fatsac)      Join Date: Jun 2004       06-18-2007, 12:38 PM Reply
The burnout was all sorts of mulletious!! I was standing there thinking "Is this really happening?"
The problem started a couple weeks back when I noticed the stereo not working the way it should. The batteries didn't go dead until about a week ago. But it did run fine last weekend after I bought the Optima. I'm sure you'll figure it out asap! The fuel gauge just started this weekend.

I bet if you saw a honda doing a burn out it would be the greatest thing ever. haha The gas gauge may be a sending unit or a bad gauge, remind me to check that too.

Marc,

Yes, we do go out on weekdays but usually around 5 PM on Wednesday. We are not going out this week nor next week but the following week could be a possibility. I will send you a PM when we do go out.

What is your opinion on Camp Far West on weekends?
Old    kidrik            06-18-2007, 8:51 PM Reply
Sorry for the hi-jackage, but is Folsom Point a "done" deal? We were looking at houses out that way, and the guy at the booth says it's open for good???
(sorry if you've already covered this, but I've been out of the loop a little while....)

Oh, David, I've heard Camp Far West is pretty crowded on weekends........Gotta go early as well!?

Peace......

Thanks Rik, that is what I have heard also. Lake Clementine only limits 25 boats on the lake but I am not about to take my boat down that hill since I am not sure that it will fit (24 foot boat). There is Rollins Lake that has been okay everytime I have gone. Any other opinions??? Heading up to Ice House this week for a camping trip but plan to take the boat..
