Now that Elsinore is basically full, (thanks to the recent storms) I wonder if they will open the channel? Is it true that you can't just ride into it? I seem to remember hearing that you need to reserve it ahead of time.

Brad,

Not sure about the channel but Elsinore was closed yesterday (both launch ramps we checked) due to debris in the water.

The channel (in past years) was rented by a private ski school. As far as I understood, there was no public use allowed on the channel at any time. That's not to say that people don't use it anyways, but kind of in an at-your-own-risk kind of way.

Anyone have pics of how full Els is? I havn't seen it since it was stupid low. Do you think they will open the city ramp again?

Brad if I remember right, they rent (not sure of the price) out four spots a day for the wakeboarding side and four spots a day for the slalom side. Two of the four permits are for the morning and the other two is for afternoon. Then the 2 boats rotate until your pass runs out, but sometimes no one else shows up and you get it to yourself for the whole day. I use to love riding there, it was great for training, because the way its set-up makes you ride in a tournament format.

Shawn ~ you are correct. I beleve California Skier sells passes but I think you need some kind of insurance as well.

If you didn't have a pass, then thats why you got ticketed. California Skier has issued the passes in the past, but I'm not sure if what RJ said is true.... Channells been clossed for quite a while! The routine though, if Cal Skier is still in charge, is you gotta have a signed liability form, copies of boat title and registration, and insurance certs with Lake Elsinore and Cal Skier named as additionally insured on file. I think the liability insurance required 500K coverage. That was just to be able to ride in the channell. Then, after you're all squared away with the paperwork, you need to reserve a spot and pay what was a $36 fee for the day. They sell a total of 3 passes for the wakeboard side (dock to buoys) and 3 passes on the slalom side.

when we got the ticket the cop told us that we cant get a permit to ride the channel because its owned by the city...no lease has been taken out and no one would get a lease through the city because of the water level and liabiality (sp?)...but mother nature hooked it up on a our 10 year storm and bam...the channel has to be like 10 ft deep so lets pray all the paper work can get worked out to open it up b4 the wallies get out on the lake...hey better yet dave w. needs to take the lease out but ww peeps get a discount. smooth ridin in so cal summers....cant wait
