I like, I also ride a knee board from time to time and enjoy being inverted. What length rope are you riding at? I find that I have to shorten up from my wakeboard length to about 60-65 depending on the tricks. Hope to see you out there on the Delta this year I will have my o4 joker in the locker.....

That makes my knees sore just looking at it. Once I started Wakeboarding I hung up my 96' joker and commited standing up. Now walking feels so much better after a set. GOOD pics.

Good pictures, that looks like fun. Why is everyone always baggin' on Knee boarding?

Cuz they can't do it.

Look at that last picture. If he was on a wakeboard, he would be 4 times as high. That's why.

I wasn't bagging on knee boarding. More making a point of why people chose wakeboarding over kneeboarding I guess. I should have been more clear instead of trying to respond to Bruce's post. My bad.

No Worries dude
I am comitting to the "baggers" I know it isn't that popular anymore and a lot look at it as a joke. That were my comment came from. It wasn't pointed at anyone particular

Mike, you HAVE to be "committed" to post these pics here!! Or just love abuse. Nice pics though... It is kinda funny that the top kneeboard is called the "Joker".

I remember my first fiberglass kneeboard called the "Tunnel Board", about 1975. Weighed in at about 15 lbs!

Ahh! Kneeboarding, the lost art. Just kidding, that is some of the coolest kneeboarding I have ever seen.
Old     (wakeguru)      Join Date: Feb 2003       02-25-2005, 10:09 AM Reply
Look, Thane's been drinkin' milk. ha ha

That's some good riding foo! I dug up some old pictures of me on the kneeboard from like 1990. If I had a scanner, I'd post em'. I ain't skeered of no bashing. There's one of me doing a classic kneeboard soul turn (lol) and a lil' barrell roll.

This was back when we didn't have poles or weight the boat down. I would be a little worried trying to hit a wakeboard size wake.

I can't even sit like that, let alone case a wake in that position. Props to the young knees that can handle it.
Old     (ridn9high)      Join Date: Feb 2004       02-25-2005, 11:06 AM Reply
The only reason I posted is that I shot the photos. I don't even own a kneeboard, think I sold mine like Mmmmmmmmmmm a long time ago. I would rather have all the shots be of a wakeboarder, just thought I'd share. I don't think my knee would even let me ride a kneeboard anymore.
Old     (boarditup)      Join Date: Jan 2004       02-25-2005, 11:13 AM Reply
Hey, I'm 40 and still ride kneeboard. If you stretch out and work at it, your knees do fine. Your butt and ankles take the beating. Some guys put a slalom buoy under their butt to ease the beating on the ankles.

Totally. Since knee surgery, I'd be tearing things just trying to sit like that. Ouch.

I haven't been on a kneeboard in a couple of years, but I think my knees could take some normal riding. However, I am sure they would explode upon impact if I attempted the landings shown in the pics.
Old     (wiltok)      Join Date: Feb 2003       02-25-2005, 2:17 PM Reply
The slalom buoy is a must have - saves your knees, butt and ankles. Plus, it gives you a little spring on jumps. When learning, however, takes a while a to get used to the bounce, really easy to go out front...

I think kneeboarding is like kissing your sister or riding a moped; you might try it once, but you wouldn't want to tell anyone.

Actually those initial pictures were good, I've never seen anyone ride a kneeboard like that.

anybody know of any kneeboard tourneys this year?
Old     (sanger215guy)      Join Date: Oct 2004       02-28-2005, 8:41 PM Reply
I have been kneeboarding for years and until recently have found myself doing it less (found a wakeboard and a new love). I will agree it is great for the kids if your just going back and forth across the wake with a little air once and a while. But lay it out and start pulling inverts and blind nosepress to 180's and the fun starts. The guy riding in the first pic's is killing it. The air he has in pic 4 is nothing but impressive.

I rode a kneeboard once. I tried to jump, nosed it in and hit so hard that it actually ripped my shorts off. I had to ride back to our resort sitting in a life vest. That was the last time.

sorry guys, but I agree with Thane and J-Rod on this one. These pics should be in the "other water sports section".

J-Rod, Some kneeboarders can go just as high and higher than wakeboarders.

O.K...that one's photoshopped

This one was shot by Kurt and it's the real thing

not gonna lie kneeboarding compared to wakeboarding is about as cool as scootering to skateboarding

we used to hunt cabin cruiser wakes and i'd have my crew tow me right over them, the boat would get air, on the knee board i probably was 15 feet in the air...i usually let go at that altitude, no pics exist since the skiboat was airborne too nobody could possibly hold a camera during this feat. i'd like to see a wakeboarder try it.

I've spent years on a kneeboard, but unfortunately I can't take credit for these. Not sure of the guys name, but he is from Australia.

I believe that is Hayden Yates. I'll try to find the link to his video.

Here is a link to his video. It is mostly his buddies though I think. It is a direct drive, smaller wake, but still an entertaining video.
