Hello everyone. We are new to this forum and new surfers but we are loving surfing at this point. Getting the wave more and more dialed each trip out. It's pretty tall and long and not sure we need it any better than how we have it now. Here's a few vids of my wife who's only been surfing about 6 weeks now. She's doing great and just had a baby in March. There's about 2650lbs in ballast on the boat, nothing on the seating surfaces all below. The GoPro is on the very back of the boat too, it's not forward like some vids to make it seem like people are riding farther back than they really are. We've ridden behind a few boats now, one being an Enzo and I think out setup is on par or better than most. The Enzo we were behind was a 230 and I like our wake better than the 230. Haven't been behind a 244. To each his own I suppose but you can see what our wake looks like in the vids below.

Video 1

http://youtu.be/jY2NpeIjBrY?hd=1

Video 2. She didn't lose it at the end of the video, she saved it but my buddy cut the clip so the clips weren't too long.

http://youtu.be/yd4dQVK4GQA?hd=1

Video 3. This is my buddy Mike. He's 220lbs. I took him once last week and he made a few hits and today was his second time ever surfing. He's hooked on wake surfing to say the least. He was so stoked to ride all over wireless.

We just started surfing not long ago and probably won't get on wake boards again for awhile. Getting wrecked on the wake board doesn't sound too appealing anymore

Great looking wave. I have always said the X25 would have a long, clean wave. Try running the the trim tab down a little (around 30% on my Enzo) and you will roll the wash over faster and it will give you a better transition near the boat.

I typically have my center tab at 40-45%. Speed about 11.5mph

We have a bunch of Inland Surfer boards and like them a lot. My wife and I custom ordered some Walker Project Bomb Pops and are very excited to get on those. Mine will have a CF deck and CF bottom. Hers will have a CF deck normal bottom but in her favorite color.

The other side is really good too. I'll get some vids next time we go out. I am going to start riding both sides.

I cant believe it took you an entire day to ask the "equal opportunity wave" question You are getting slow in your old age

LOL, I know. But I love seeing new boats that I haven't been around throw a great wave on both sides. Future polar bear demo boat maybe, who knows.

The funny thing is, I didn't even see this thread, missed it completely. Woon PM'd me and asked me to take a look. He is pretty proud of his dial in job, and he should be, it looks good.

Not sure I'd say proud but I'm happy with it I just don't like people bashing Mastercrafts for surfing when most all the ones I've seen are not setup correctly including 25's and 45's which are the two best MC's for surfing. I just wanted to show an example of a properly setup X25 and that a MC is a great surf boat when done right. And we have it setup with all the ballast under the seats so the interior is completely open. The Viland's 45 is setup perfect for surfing too and their surf wake is awesome as well.

I have been saying ever since the X25 came out that it could have a great wave (hull is deeeep. reminds me of an Avy but better because the lockers are huge.). I think it is funny that MC spent so much time/money/marketing telling everybody the new X30 is MC's surf boat. All MC needed to do was take some sacs out and dial it in and add a new "surf" swim deck.

Speaking of swim decks.... I made one today that's MUCH smaller. I'll see how it changes the wake Monday.

Totally agreed! In my opinion, everything from the x15 all the way to the x45, can produce a really nice wake when weighted correctly! Even the star can produce a nice wake (a little more tricky put still doable)

And one thing that I like of my MC is that the wake is as good on the starboard side as it is on the port side!

And these boats have lots of freeboard so they can lean a lot!

And comfy as hell, you don't have your knees in the face when sitting!

That is pretty cool, I am looking forward to seeing the goofy wake, I have seen wakes on an X30 that was pretty decent and then the X45 wake from the viland's looks amazing, but I don't think either of those have a great goofy wake. That was not the new X30 BTW, I haven't seen that. There is a guy that wakesurfs on our lake with an X25, and the wake is horrible, so guessing he just doesn't know how to weight it.

This I'm interested in. This has been the my problem with MC and surfing.
Plenty of the boats make good waves, but the dance floor swim deck kills them.

Old     (TheWoons)      Join Date: Jul 2012       07-09-2012, 3:49 PM Reply
The shorter swim deck made it worse and the water was hitting the side and throwing up a lot of roost. Put the stock one back on and it was great. Jon, mine but it's gone. It's a new 2012 458. I'm an independent dealer.

I assume it was you that drove it to the MC factory last year then? I don't think there are too many of them around Vonore.

How do you have your X-25 set up for surfing? I have an X-25 and haven't gotten my surf wake dialed in yet.

750lbs in the back locker, 900lbs under the port seat, 400lbs lead front starboard side bow, 600lbs in stock ballast, KGB and Port tanks full, all hidden below the seats and sometimes we put 350lbs on top of the port seat. 2600-2900lbs of ballast plus people. The center tab makes a huge difference and we put it up and down depending on what we are doing.

Hey Ryan,

Davis here, we r loving the board. Quick question how is the wave on starboard side and how did you like the soulcraft boards, that was one of our other options. Thanks and great pics of everyone including the little one.

Thanks, Ryan, very helpful. You put 400 lbs lead in the starboard bow? Or do you mean port, since all the other weight is port side.

Thanks Blair. Davis I'm glad you like the FlyBoy! After riding the Bomb Pop for two days now it's my favorite board I've ever been on. It's very fast, a lot of pop, and hard to pearl. I love it.

DSport Magazine did an issue on the top ten highest horsepower cars and I'm in there with one of my cars that made 1560rwhp. It was actually the power train out of my silver Supra that I used in the blue one temporarily. It's on magazine stands right now

Nice! Never owned a Supra but I've been on car forums for 12 years now and have seen your cars throughout that time. Bad azz stuff that you have!

Love my Bomb Pop! I've recently demoed a few other boards and all they did was solidify my choice...although the Soulcraft Jetty is a very close second pick for me. Still can't believe how light it is and I didn't even go carbon fiber on mine.

My wife rides a 4'2, I ride a 4'5. You can get away with shorter bomb pop than other boards because of it's design. We have a friend that's 185lbs and had no problems riding my wife's 4'2.

Tony we surf with Mike and Angie all the time. We've been playing with all sorts of ballast setups even still. I think I've found what we like best though as of this week. Troy, as far as fit/finish/quality MC really does the best job. I've been in most all the boats on the market. Of course it's a matter of opinion but that's mine

It was awesome. I was expecting to have to pump and it surprised me that I was still in the sweet spot and didn't have to work to stay there. I can't wait to go out next week and do some more!

We've setup the goofy side a few times on our boat and it's still good. I don't think Mike has tried to weight their boat on the goofy side. With his custom sacs it would be difficult on his X45.

It was good. Wasn't as good as our 25 or our friends 45 with 2600lbs in it but with a bit more weight and tinkering I think it would be on par and one of the best on the market.
