Just bought a new X-star to replace my 06' 210. I took it out for the first time yesterday and put about 6 hours or so on it. I noticed though that the engine seems a little on the weak side. Now I know this boat weighs a bit but I have heard of people running 3-4K pounds in these things w/ no problem.

We rode yesterday w/ stock ballas (1K lbs) and 9 people in the boat. The X-star got on plane, but it seemed like it took a minute. I can't imagine how long it will take when I decide to add more weight, if it planes at all.

What prop is a good changeout for running stock ballast, 9-10 peeps, plus 2K extra pounds?

TK,

I asked my dealer when I could ride w/ stock ballast and they said right away. They said not to put additional ballast until after 10 hrs. I had 6 hrs on it before we rode at all. Thanks for the prop advice. I will check it out.

From your description it sounds as though you don't have the new prop.

Mike ~~ How do you like the Wake compared to the 210 so far?

The 210 has a more efficient hull, since it is narrower. Expect to use more power with the X-Star.

Drive it like it is stolen :-)

Mike,

It should have the prop on it that TK mentioned. If not, that's what you need. I have the MCX and do run up to 4K in ballast at times. With stock and people you should be getting out of the hole with no problems.

PM me if you have any other questions along the way.

Thanks guys, I will check the prop.

Josh,

Not too sure yet. I bought the X-star to please my wife. She was looking for more room. I really really liked my 210 though for boarding. The X-star wake has the size, but it is so much different. I noticed that my pop was off a little. Seems like I need to ride up the wake...LOL, imagine that. I was just used to the steepness of the 210 and probably became a little lazy. I have been impressed w/ the quality and room of the X-star and I am in love w/ the large landing zones. My knees are already thanking me. I do love Nautiques though and it may take me a little while to become faithful to MC.

Mike,

It will definitely take a little getting use to coming from a 210, those two wakes are about as different as they can be. But, I'm sure you will end up loving it. Just be patient with everything. I had close to 5000lbs in mine today with a different prop that I am testing that turned out no where near as good as the stock one, but it still pushed it. It did take a while, but did it. The MCX is a work horse and does great on gas compared to the LY6.

Thanks 882001...I'm really pumped on how it came out.

CL...the MCX is rated at 350hp.

I have to back up travis on this.. X-Star got up on plane with 5 guys and 4k ballast nicely.

Wake was outta this world!! Only if I had my camera that day!

I was shocked, liked like a wake comming off a 40' aft cabin cruiser!!!

Have fun with your new X-star btw... great boat and you'll love much better than you 210.

I can have any engine I like, and I get the MCX. I feel it is the most dependable, best on gas, and still gets the job done. I love the MCX!
