other thing, all of my OMFS have been working full bore, slammed through this shut down, seeing all oral maxi issues, and all dental referrals, and no one is sick, I have not had an office with sick staff etc etc. so they work in peoples mouths, prob the highest risk job in the world (at the moment) and still not sick. So i think the spread is heavily related to viral load, heavy, continuous load, that ends in sever cases.

this is my opinion, no science, just from watching my region and the response from the doctors i see.

You already stated specifically to not listen to scientists. Masks are BS. No need for testing? I mean what kind of data are we to use w/o more testing?
I am at home, but im not hiding from the falling sky. Im pretty busy. There are 38,000 cases in my county and over 1800 deaths. Im doing my part to help, you know the common good and all.
read the constitution. It is the states responsibility or until Nancy Pelosi votes to give Trump the power to manage it. We have been through this. You keep saying the same stuff over and over when it is a lie.

Didn't the democrat newsome follow the swedish model? If not, then why not? I thought he knows everything and it his state after all. Or did he follow the swedish model and it did not work? Seems like California has been in lock down now for 2 months. Sound like your town is getting killed. Wonder if it has anything to do with all the homeless and illegals that don't care about the law anyway? I don't hear you talking about Hawaii. They said if you come to their state, they will lock you down for 2 weeks. Not only that, they did more than 2 months of lock down with island isolation and they are still getting cases. Very low numbers but it did not shut it down. There comes a time when you need to stop lying to yourself that you are going to stop this with some sort of magical solution. You are not. If if's were nuts you would have a bunch.

They can do as they please when not in public. To say im not wearing a mask because im not scared (or at risk) is childish.
Or, the people who feel like they are at risk can wear a N95 mask and eye protection and let the rest of us live in freedom.

And just like that, you have thrown out your position that people will get sick and die and the goal was to not overrun the hospitals. Trump threatens to extort two states.

And he's not even correct about what has happened (unsurprisingly) - no ballots were sent out, only applications (just like republican SOS's sent out in a handful of other states lol). What a dipchit

No, he's right. Without needing to ask for them, the democratically elected Rebublican Secretary of State caused all registered Nevada voters to receive vote by mail primary ballots. My household has filled them out and returned them already.

And by "filled them out" of course I mean that we signed them and turned them over to the local socialist committee boss.

No. The point I was making is that in Sweden they trust their government, when the gov't recc social distance and masks they do it. In USA the public isnt trusting. Too many refuse to wear masks, they are out protesting with loaded guns. Freedom, Liberate.... THATS why the Swedish model would never work here. I agree with Doug, many of these cases are getting passed in the home to family members, they cant separate. Feel free to pretzel logic all you want, my point remains.

Your point is not even valid and comparing apples to oldsmobiles.

You are talking about different states and different issues trying to "pretezel logic" your argument. What does Michigan have to do with California and specifically LA? What does a 2 weeks have in common vs 2 months plus. What does not being able to even go outside into your own yard like Michigan have to do with sweden and california? people in Michigan absolutely should not trust their government.

California is overwhelmingly communist/ one world, trust the gobernment sympathizers. They shut down things immediately. They have social distancing and still have businesses shut down still after 2 months. let's talk about that. It is not working apparently. So, are we supposed to flatten or are we supposed to stay home until a cure?
Old     (95sn)      Join Date: Sep 2005       05-20-2020, 7:07 AM Reply
Im not comparing Michigan to CA. The topic was "why cant we use the Swedish plan". Its because our people are entirely different in regards to listening to Gov't and self responsibility. You are literally making my point recommending Mich should not trust their Govt. Thats the reason. The only reason Michigan cant go outside is because their dams broke and its flooding. The gardening thing was a one off, dont try to make an exception the rule.
Where are the communists in CA? Point them out. I can wait. Most things are re-opening, car washes today. What else do you want to talk about? I got the day off. Even the the WH promised a cure/vaccine by Dec. 31, it wont be here. I guarantee it. Another trump lie. I'll leave the pretezeling to you King.

Fwiw, Here are my observations on all of this.

I've been a Republican all my life. I voted for Trump. I hoped that he would actually drain the swamp. I did not want Hillary. I did not want a continuation of Obama's policies.

After approximately one year, I realized that I was wrong about Trump. I think he is an abysmal president. I don't know how many other people are like me, who voted for Trump, but have since realized he is not a good President.

There is gross misinformation put out by both sides. Honestly it's often impossible to get to the heart of the issues and find out who's telling the truth.

I look for information from many sources but almost never Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC.

But here are things I know from my own observations of what Trump himself has said.

Trump is dishonest. He will often deny things he is recorded as saying. His comment about disinfectant is a recent example. He said it to one of his medical advisors but the very next day said he said it in response to reporters. Was it in jest like he said the next day? I doubt it and that was certainly an odd time to make a comment in jest but I don't know. I do know that he did not say it to reporters. This is one example but there are many more. (Obama providing broken tests for a strain of virus that didn't exist being another.)

Trump has extremely thin skin. If someone says something he perceives as negative then that person is "the worst." If someone praises him then they're great. This may be the worst quality of him as President. Presidents screw up and they all have screwed up royally. If he can't ever take any criticism then he's going to keep screwing up.

Trump often refuses to take responsibility for decisions. He just put the responsibility for firing the Inspector General on Mike Pompeo. Why? "Maybe he thinks he's being treated unfairly." THAT'S WHY YOU FIRE THE INSPECTOR GENERAL? Because the Secretary of State "maybe" thinks he's being treated unfairly? Let's assume that Obama really screwed up as bad as Trump has said about preparation for pandemic response. Even if that is true then why didn't Trump fix things in 3 years? Trump is the opposite of "The buck stops here." Instead it should be "The buck stops anywhere else but here."

Trump does not respect the military chain of command. His meddling with Edward Gallagher's case is a prime example of this.

Trump is not a fiscal conservative whatsoever. (Is there even a party that believes in being fiscally conservative anymore?)

In my line of work, I deal with all kinds of people. I often encounter people who are certain that everything that comes out of there mouth is the truth and everything that they do is the right thing. They are incapable of accepting that they might do things wrong sometime. Based on what I have seen, Trump is one of those people.

Might Biden be worse? He might. But I have zero confidence in Trump and will vote against him.

Thanks Shawn, I definitely feel like we've lost the ability to civilly disagree and consider each others opinions. To often it seems like the defacto is "You disagree, so you must be an idiot." Instead of, "Let me hear and consider your reasoning." I myself am certainly guilty of this at times.

Warms my cold dead librul heart to hear someone actually looked up from the sea of maga kool-aid at what is going on (not necessarily claiming you for our side of course). I agree with almost all of that, especially that Biden is well, not ideal. Light years ahead of where are now, but the bar has been lowered so far that it does not take much to improve.

I only hope there are enough of you to save our country.

I see Trump's appeal, he has a great skill in identifying a problem with the establishment and shouting from the roof tops about what an outrage it is. A lot of the time he is right about the issue as examples:
Immigration
Hillary's insider dealing
The swamp in general
USA being the worlds policeman
Debt and deficit
China/Outsourcing

The problem with Trump is he is a grifter, he either has no intention of fixing the issue or his take on the issue is so bad it makes it worse. Examples:
The Wall: Doesn't solve any immigration issues
Hillary: Not locked up, no attempt to lock her up
Swamp: Terrible capital cronyism or just straight nepotism with his family
Worlds Police: No significant change in policy, Military spending drastically increased.
Debt/Deficit: Take the deficit from 400B to 2.5T. Tax cuts without benefit cuts, unforgivable!
China: You cannot fix this problem with tarrifs, the problem is USA's lack on investment in innovation in manufacturing

Oops, there goes that tired talking point.

"Rev. Robert Schenck, an evangelical pastor who worked with McCorvey after her conversion to Christianity, said the pro-life movement exploited her weaknesses for its own gain.
“What we did with Norma was highly unethical,” Schenck said in the documentary, according to Reuters. “The jig is up.”"

Not so ironic, you libtards welcoming Josh to the fold as he implodes like the turncoat that he is. It only shows his lack of true conviction from the beginning. A weak man.

Anyone can have disagreements with Trump or hate his personality- as we all have, but he’s still FAR BETTER than anything offered by the left. SCOTUS nominations alone are enough. Josh, if you’re gonna vote for Biden, you can’t come back from that. Automatic man-card forfeiture required.

So funny reading all these Libtard wet dream propaganda articles about Trump either losing or behind in polls etc. Kinda like in 2016. You’d think Biden was already measuring for new WH drapes. I hope it gives you libtards such a false sense of security that you even lose Cali for good measure. That would be the ultimate burn. I can dream too, you know.

They are incapable of accepting that they might do things wrong sometime. Based on what I have seen, Trump is one of those people.

Might Biden be worse? He might. But I have zero confidence in Trump and will vote against him.
So if Trump is just half as a bad as you say he is (and heís no angel), what is Biden gonna do for you if you claim youíre a repub? Do you want to pay more taxes? Do you want the green new deal? Do you want to be a socialist? Do you want open borders? Do you want more abortions? Do you want more illegal aliens? Do you want universal healthcare? Minimum income for everyone including illegals aliens? Free healthcare for illegals? Do you want to shut down domestic oil production and depend more on foreign oil? How bout the alphabet crowd? Are you cool with those people making it mandatory that our nationís children learn all about their deviancies and are forced to accept that as normal? Would you like our prez to gut the military again and go on another apology tour? How bout globalism? You wanna support that too? You want China to keep handing our asse$ to us? Most importantly, do you want libtard, activist judges on the SCOTUS???

Thatís what youíre gonna get with a Biden vote-and so much more. Iíve barely scratched the surface.

The Trump pill seems pretty easy to swallow after that if youíre truly what you say you are. No one since Reagan has put America first like Trump. Trump also warned us about China ten years ago. He was right. Yes, heís a lot of bad things, but he has far more positives if you are what you claim to be.

Not so fast! Trumps approval rating shot up the day the democrats voted to impeach him, for three years his approval rating barely went above 42%, then, he got impeached, and his approval rating has not been below 43% since, even with the Trump virus. If Biden wins, the democrats will win the Senate also, and with control over all three branches of government, they will implement universal health care, which will stick it to the working people in America(for some reason we cannot make the .1% pay their fair share). I think a much better scenario for our country would be for the democrats to win the Senate, this is Trumps greatest fear, then, the three branches of government would start to tip back into balance.

Happy to. Not weak, not confused...Thoughtful. reasoned.
Dude was pretty clear in his reasoning, gave examples... clear cut examples of dissatisfaction.
Trump is dishonest.
Trump has thin skin.
Trump refuses to accept any responsibility.
Trump does not respect our military.
Trump not fiscal conservative.
Didnt just write an opinion, he backed it up with the "why".

A calm, measured response does not equal thoughtfulness. He actually sounded like he was in tears as he wrote it.
Name one honest politician
Trump's thin skin is not a reason to throw out your convictions and jump ship. It only proves you never had convictions. In other words, Josh is a RINO.
Is Fredo's brother owning the deaths he is solely responsible for?
That's a BS charge.
Depends on the subject.
His "why's" are just emotional drivel. I think what you mean to say is he sunk down to your emotion-first way of reasoning.

Does not respect the Military is not emotional.
Trumps dishonesty is not emotional.
Trumps problem being thin skinned isnt emotional
Fiscal responsibility is not emotional.
Accepting responsibility is not emotional. et al.
These are minimum standards to judge a politicians fitness for office. Trump fails.

So the shutdown wasn't based on guidance from federal, state and local scientists, but rather was a vast democratic conspiracy?

If that were true, and the dems were so good at manipulating the world and duping the president and the senate, why wouldn't they have taken over by now? Or is that all part of their diabolical plan?

Yea, im not sure thats coherent argument. Democrats are not trying to tank the economy. No doubt our entire world was to be screwed no matter what, but saving hundreds of thousands of lives at the expense of a few months of financial pain was a gamble that the government(s) chose.

My post was more a testament that dump screwed himself by not acting sooner. He sacrificed his pride and joy, jObS/te EConOmY, because he was too naive/vain to intervene out of fear of "spooking " the markets. The most tragic of irony.

We should all be looking at the ďleadershipď of governor Cuomo to learn how dems make decisions.
The SOBís direct orders to force Kung Flu patients into nursing homes killed 4300 previously non-infected people. Of course CNN etc will never tell you about these things and instead, play the Cuomo brothers comedy routines with big Q-tips to go with their big wop noses. Idiots.

I have a better rhetorical question for you. Why are the libtard states and cities the ones trying to kill their economies with their policies that science doesnít even support?

The president does not have the legal authority to act earlier. He did shut down travel as soon as they found out. Even with those facts, your post had nothing to do with acting earlier. It clearly was about job creation and using a graph regarding the loss of jobs due to a china born disease killing our economy. Couple that with many democrat talking heads literally saying out loud that they need the economy to tank to beat Trump. Well... I am pretty sure my version of your truth is more accurate.

Do you have specific examples? Hard to debate that in the abstract.

Chances are we are going to see many diverse approaches across our 50 states, and will effectively be experimenting on the means of virus suppression and the balance of virus suppression vs. economic activity.

This is one of those times that there probably isn't a "right" or a "wrong" approach, but over time we will come to regard some approaches as more right and others as more wrong.

But if your position is that we should defer to the scientists, I could get behind that.

Thought youíd never ask... actually, I did give an example earlier: New York-the libtard gift that keeps on giving. Check out the latest. Just when you thought Gov. Cuomo was bad, the mayor of NYC has to top him. Read the comments afterwards too.

If thats true, How the hell did he just open churches?
Shut down travel? After all the airlines shut down travel to China? yes.
The China born disease killed the economies of most of the world, not very surgical. Those genius Chinese started the spread in their own country so no one would expect the attack.
Leave David Byrne out of this. Given time, trump was tanking his own economy.

But, but "MY AUTHORITY IS ABSOLUTE!!" as he said, right?!

What particular statute prevented him from acting earlier. I'll wait, you lawyer you. Should I call you Micheal Cohen?

No he did not act as soon as he found out. And all he did was shut down some travel to/from China (exceptions for family, etc). Could have done a lot more. Did the bear minimum, too little too late.

Who said that we need the economy to tank to beat Trump? He is doing just fine himself. He already lost one wakeworld voter. I have not seen that he has picked any up. Fox shows him down like 10 points to Biden, but thats probably a democratic hoax too.

We should let the blue states continue their pain. Let them shut down their states for the rest of the year, its sad for the people who live there, but they need this, they need to realize that their state government know they are not mature enough to come out side, to go to work,to get a hair cut or eat dinner in a restaurant. They need to know that their state elected officials believe they are stupid, ignorant, incompetent people who cannot be trusted to wash their hands, stay 6 ft apart, stay away from the elderly and stay home if ill. They need to feel this pain. They need to know they are not responsible, cannot be responsible the their reps are parenting them. In the eyes of their reps, they are just children and cannot make adult decisions. Thats what this is.

50 states, 50 different plans.
So, should these be political decisions or should there be some experts in virus involved. Strictly Economy V. Science? Someplace in the middle? We shall see.

I have 2 states, red and blue. I guess that makes me purple. BTW, i don't think blue state people are too stupid, they may vote in a stupid manor, but I think people are able to be responsible, but the blue state governing body does not think they are. Thats a fact. No science needed. or is it just political?

Everything is politics

Shower thought: if wearing a mask, during outbreaks (not forever), is anything, it is a gesture of respect for others and unity in common good/perseverance. Is that itself so bad and polarizing? We pull over for funeral processions, we cover tabs for our military and first responders, why could this not be a temporally relevant show of respect for the chronically ill?

Funny how mum you libs are when reminded of your fellow lib gov. Cuomo’s FORCING Kung Flu people to mix with healthy people so they could kill 4,300 people. That was the single biggest flop in this whole mess.

Also, if masks are so effective, why don’t they give them to prisoners instead of letting them out to murder or harm other people?

Masks? this is not about masks lol. respect?. it is disrespectful to tell people to shut up and go bankrupt, while others are not. Not allowing people to survive is as disrespectful as it gets. 95% of the population could get it and be ok, more like 99%, so 99% should all suffer, while 1% can survive, all the while, the elderly, or compromised, just need to be respected, and kept safe.

You can put on a hazmat suit, great, I am all in, but thats your choice. and no one will care as long as we can get hair cuts, eat a pizza, watch a movie, and go about our lives with respect. Disrespect is forcing people to not be allowed to pay their rent, buy food, pay their bills, because they cannot go to work.

People on this forum have boat payments more than some peoples mortgages. how would you like to collect 600 a week, after taxes, and live off that? UI, may be more than ever before, but Cobra will destroy you. i would rather take my chances getting sick, than watch communities crumble. This has nothing to do with masks, its about control. This entire **** storm will set the stage for all future control. We will have RFID cards, safety checks, screenings, and color codes for the rest of our lives now. Just so someone can control our lives. Your cell phone will be become your passport to life or death.

i cant wait, you and your fam are walking through the airport, 2 yrs from now, all wearing your masks etc etc, and you have a 99.7 temp, and you cant get on the plane, No medical example, no blood test, no viral test, just a big fat NO. Its coming, and it will be handcuffs for everyone.

you think people will be complaining about BS agenda garbage like todays, All our stupid **** today, will look like childs play. At any moment, you will be able to stop anyone for any reason for anything as long as those in power can pull a power play. People will lose their rights faster than you can blink.

Seems like you are describing the experience of being a minority (especially black) in America every day.
