well the season is pret near over...seems that we basically skipped the 50 deg temps and went from 90's to 60's to 40's (only for a very short while) to the 30's. i see ice covering many of the lakes already. gas prices have plummeted to $1.79 or less...wow would this have been nice to have during that past 6 months!

anyway thought i'd start up another one of these threads...helped make the winter go by fairly quick last winter.

any other minnesota riders got any home video footage of their riding (or other minnesota friends riding) from this summer? if so post it up!

here is some footage of myself from this season.

http://www.wakepics.com/video/22697/jay-boarding-2008

2 years of serious wakeboarding and i'm already to the point where i would be lost without it! i can't believe it took me so long to embrace this sport (actually i can...we didn't have a boat growing up). i'm definitely jealous of those of you who have been maximizing your time with this sport for the majority of your lives. it seems to be the only thing that keeps me sane now-a-days.

thanks. although i have to admit that i did know how to get up and go heelside w2w before 2007, but it was way back in 2000...from like 97-2000 i got out maybe 2 or 3 times a summer. then didn't get to ride for the next 7 years.

I started from complete scratch last year. I actually bought my boat before I had even tried wakeboarding for the first time. Its by far my favorite sport after 1 summer of riding. This winter is gonna suck...the only thing I am looking forward to adding a tower and hanging some speakers off that. That should keep me busy for a while.

Jay, i bought my rig as a senior in highschool, barely "legal" hahaha!!! And it has been the best thing i have ever purchased, EVER! Thanks for starting up the thread brother...hopefully this winter goes by faster than the last and we can begin to shred sooner than before! We should have a MN rider's WW get together sometime and get some Adult Soda's! Let me know if anyone is in, I'd like to catch up with a lot of the guys I rode with last season, and meet more people to ride with next season!!!

Nick, you're gonna have to come out with us next season as much as possible brother. I look forward to meeting you on the lake, or the Mountain!

This is a buddy of mine riding, but the wake was looking good that day on WBL. Thats with only 2 540# and 7 people. If I have about 2000# it should be money. Eder I will take you up on that offer for sure...thanks man.

I think this was this summer, chance it was last though. Usually we burn a ton of film but this summer we had some people that didnt show so a couple of times it was just two peeps out on the water, not all bad though cause you don't have to fight for the dusk set.

Corey - you should always bring your board if you're going to be around wakeboats!

Ryan T. - that vid is sick. I'm anxious to see the stuff you got in the Phillipines! Did you end up bringing your board?

Adam - nice riding. Where is that lake located?

Ryan A. - from the looks of your first pick, I see that you're still rocking that same old rope and handle...time to upgrade mang! Lookin' forward to shredding with you again this summer!

Jeff - is that santa clause or just some dude with a really bad azz white beard?

Come on Jay, if you can't shred ghetto you don't shred. I just put some more duct tape on the sides and got new epoxy on the '06 Natural so I am ready for another season. All my other cash went to that CTI brace this year. I have a new proline handle in the closet too ha ha.

Thanks guys! Glad you still like the video. It still pumps me up to ride when I see it. And I can safely say I have seen it more than anyone out there! haha!

Jay, the Philippines was a BLAST! Definitely so much fun. I definitely am going to have to go back there. I ended up not bring my board since I had to bring so much camera stuff but I made sure they had one for me over there. I came to the conclusion that cable is super fun! I had only ridden once before at OWC but had never hit obstacles. After a few days I had learned 5's off the kicker. I was so stoked! (It also helps to have Murray riding behind you giving you pointers. HAHA!) I attached a link to my favorite photo of me there. Can you see me? I am in the chopper!

Jeff, I grew up in Southern MN. I grew up on Washington and rode Francis all throughout highschool. When we shot this video we wanted to get away from our home lake so we hit up Francis. It was funny because we set out to camp but ended up only 10 miles from my home. Oh well. It was kinda planned last minute.

Still, fun times though! It was the weekend of the Elsian Triathlon. Where you around then?

Nice! You know, I think I might have seen you guys out filming that weekend. I can't say for sure, but I'm assuming it was you as it's the only time I've seen anyone film on that lake. We were in the older black/white x-star.

Let me know if you ever plan to ride there next season. Sweet riding too!

Hey guys, I know its a little ways out yet but still worth marking on the calander.

Minneapolis Boat Show January 21-25,2009.

We're taking 12 boats including the new X-14V and X-55. Sounds like CC is getting a bigger booth and I think they will be right by MC and BU now so hopefully that means more boats too.

Total lineup for MC as of right now (could change)
X-Star
X-1
X-2
X-14
X-15
X-30
X-45
X-55
CSX
ProStar 197
ProStar 214V
MariStar 200

No word on riders making appearances yet, I'll let you know as we find out but usually we don't get word till pretty close to the show.

Corey, looking forward to the show...are you guys still contemplating rigging up a boat with a pair of Wet Sounds? I have a pair of Pro 80's at my house sitting in the box and I am so anxious to hear what they sound like. Blake at Forest Lake Motor Sports has a been helping me out with my audio project this winter and if I remember correctly he is throwing a pair of Pro 485's on the new 24 SSV...keep me posted. Thanks.

WakeMikey...when you mounted your Monster Tower on the Supra, did you add extra reinforcement underneath? Or did you just use the backing plates Monster Tower provided? I'm debating whether or not it is necessary.

Alright, since it's freezing cold let's get some ideas for next summers events. Pro Tour is gone, no word on any LF Slideshow type events I think we're gonna have to put something together ourselves. Throw out ideas, let's try to keep it constructive, its depressing enough with the frozen lakes and what not.

I'd like to see some sort of slider jam down by Lake Calhoun. I think it would get pretty good exposure just for the location.

I'd also like to see some sort of jam style session/contest. Kind of like the old plank spank where its a 3 minutes or 3 falls format. I have no idea where we could host this yet.

Finally I really liked the old Double Up Tours. for those that missed them Double Up would show up with a bunch of boards and then take you for a pull so you could try their gear. The nice thing about this was everyone got stoked to ride new stuff and talk about it, you didnt have to sit and watch every rider but you could pick their brains about the gear. I guess I'm wondering if we could get a board company to sponsor this would people be interested, it's not a contest so you don't win anything you just get stoked.

Relocation after 3 years, thats how they run most of the stops. We were hoping that they would stick around for a little longer but it wasnt in the cards.

Corey,

How about a Minnesota Upple Dub or Nothing all Minnesota Riders, 15 Minute Jam, exactly Like the Parks Deal But in MN. Maybe a few different Classes to get people motivated to ride. Like an Intermediate, Advanced, and Pro/Outlaw. Man that would be stupid FUN!

Andy,

Thats a dope idea, I like the three skill levels cause it keeps it simple and fun for the spectators. A DU style format would make it easier to find a lake too since everything would be pretty close.

I might know of an awesome location for this, its about 2.5 hours from the Twin Cities (semi private, bleachers!!!, nearby campling) so my question is would people drive that far for a killer contest or would it prevent you from attending, serious questions here, contests are a lot of work so theres no sence in planning one if no one wants to make the trip.

Old     (amark)      Join Date: Nov 2008       12-20-2008, 9:15 AM Reply
Does is have to be a contest or could it be a festival type event?? where theres giveaways, free tows, and then maybe a best trick DU contest...But the atmosphere wouldnt be so focused on it being a CONTEST...
IDK just my .02 but i would deff. be willing to drive 2 1/2 hours for an event...And willing to help out too
Old     (ironj32)      Join Date: Jan 2007       12-22-2008, 6:59 AM Reply
I definitely think we need to get something going around here. I think some sort of 2 day Festival with a D-Up contest would be sweet. I would have to think that the closer you kept it to the metro, then the better your chances for a larger turn out would be (especially to draw the Non-Hard Core crowd). There has got to be a spot that is within 30 minutes of here.

I also think some sort of rail jam near Calhoun would be dope.

i can think of quite a few people who probably would not make a 2.5 hour trip, but would most likely be down for a 30 minute drive.

so the first few months of the off-season were fairly painless, but now i'm starting to really really really get the itch. hopefully with a decent amount of snow on the lakes it will help keep the ice some what thinner, and we'll be able to get out there earlier this spring! if we figure that ice will be off the river by March 31st, we're looking at 92 days left...

anyone getting anything new for this season...boat, board, bindings??? i myself am planning on getting the new Decade board and boots. i'm also planning on getting another tsunami pump, and another sac to put in the boat.

During Christmas my family (not me) was talking ice fishing, and I guess the ice is thicker than it should be for this time of year. Every year we have had our houseboat on the upper St. Croix, the ice has been gone by the first week of April.

I picked up an 08 Ibex for dirt cheap and I just sold my Launch Pad Recliners and pump yesterday to someone on WW. I am broke right now, I have put almost 3 grand into boat upgrades so far...
