After looking around for some time for a decent surf board rack at a reasonable price, I finally gave up and built my own. Nothing fancy but I can't wait to try them out. Hopefully the weather starts looking better for the fourth. P.S. The tower is folded down and I didn't want to take the boat out of the garage just to see how they looked, so they are mounted on the upright currently.

I like how you incorporated the hold downs into your clamps. Nice

Folks don't realize how easy it is to work with aluminum. You can cut it with a carbide tipped blades (on a table or radial arm saw) and use a router to home machine it and can buy "blocks" of it on ebay. Fun stuff.

Wish i could learn to work with metal. Ill eventually be spending some time in a machine shop, im studying to be a mechanical engineer and will eventually be able to get in one.

Wood is as far as I can really go now.

Looks killer tho. I would like to make a rack like the endless wave racks, how hard do you think that would be?

I think that the endless wave racks would be pretty easy to make. The hardest part would be the tube clamps. I thought about that style of rack but opted against it because my tower is kind of tall and it would have been to hard for my wife and others to use.

Yea I know its kinda a hassle to use, but Its nice having them up and out of the way. especially when you have boards that wont fit in the racks. My shred stixx elevation doesnt fit in the forks, so it gets a seat in the bow, all good untill it gets windy or we have lots of people in the boat.
