i just got into wakesurfing the last month looking for a board just curious why would i get a wakesurf board from a wakeboarding company should i get one from a surf shaper i have been surfing most of my life my instinct tell me to do that any words of wisdom

Depends on the style you plan on adopting... skim or surf. If you have the ability, I would definitely go for a custom builder. Without a doubt, I would do everything you can to demo boards from friends as much as possible to determine exactly what you are looking for. Based on your post, I would assume you lean towards a surf-style board. I'd recommend you look into Smed, Walker Project, and Shred Stixx as solid surf-style boards.

thanks for the help i saw some photos of stretch boards on the forum any word on how they ride i have one of his surfboards and like it. was thinking of seeing about a wake surfboard from him

yeah alot of weight, ive got a big insurance plan,so if something happens it might be cvered.But I highly doubt they will cover it if anything happensd.with that much weight in the boat ,but it makes one hell of a wave

How are those "surf" style boards for surface 3's & 10's or shuvs

Surface 3's are common on surf style boards. 10's are not common on any board and are possible on skim style boards Shuvs are common on skim style boards but are possible on surf style boards. 7's are possible on both boards.

seven what do you mean ,because idont know anyone on a surf style board that can do a 700 not even kelly slater can do 700 on a surfboard.one thing is for sure you can get more air on a surf style board than a skim style board

Kelly doesn't surf very often behind a boat. He also doesn't ride a board 4 and a half feet long. 7's are possible and I have seen many on surfboards with fins over 4".

those are more skim style, thats not surfing,Im talking about the same fins you use on a real surfboard, skim boards and surfboards are different,but everyone I know that rides a wakesurfboard,knows you cant do a 7 you could do it if you ride twin fin,just because it looks like a surfboard does nt mean its the same style

James does it on a twinny, and that twinzer/C-5 arrangement. His rail fins are Scimitars - 4.51 depth - "real" surfboard fins . Honestly, a surface 3 done right, is effortless and is done basically in place, the second 3 in the 7 is more drifty heading towards the back of the pocket. I'd guess that it's pretty hard on a thruster and/or quad.

do you have video becuase i still dont understand, are you talking about straight 700 or two 360s yeah a regular 3 is easy,yeah when I ride my boards I use the same fins as my surfboard,does james use those fins and board in the ocean.with a twin you can do it

There is a segment on the TWP promo video that shows him...I'm not sure how far in it is though 'bro. He's spinning 720, all in one motion, but the second rotation is really "pushed" and he usually has to pump at the end to keep it in the pocket

James doesn't ride that board in the ocean, it's only 4'5". I've heard that Chase paddles in on his 4'8", but man that's some serious skill. Like you say - James is basically riding a twinny.

yeah i ride my 5 o placebo in the ocean i took it out in some crazy reef waves ,it worked good at the typhoon lagoon.im going to try my 5 4 stretch in the ocean.thanks i will check that video nice shot and video of james on wakesurfing mag
