What's your preference? We have an ice cold lake around here and one that's like bath water. Always seem to ride better on the warm water but the cold feels so good if you fall. Are there any major differences between the two or is it just personal preference?

How is there a warm lake and a cold lake so close to one another?

For me, warm water anyday. I ride in cold water too much where I live.

they ride a lot differently. cold water is more dense as compared to the warm water, which leads to a tighter feel on the water. the warm water will feel looser since it isn't as dense. unless the difference is ice water verse boiling water, i don't think you'll be able to notice a difference though.

Yeah warm water any day of the week. I am assuming warm meaning 78-80 degrees which is still refreshing.

it was 112 this weekend at tulloch and the water in the BC was 83 deg. we went to the other end of the lake and it was 46 degrees at the inlet so we have the best of both! i would say that 73 degrees would be perfect temp

I've ridden in both extremes. Lake Sammamish in the winter gets down to around 40 degrees in the winter, and it sucks when your head feels like a freezing ball. I've ridden on Shasta when the water up the Pit Arm got up to 97 degrees, that was horrible as well.

Perfect for me is 80 degree air and about 65 degree water.

i would way rather ride in warm. I ride in cold water all the time and i hate it. When I do ride in warm water i feel like i can ride forever because im not freezing my nuts off.

i hate cold water...the perfect water for me is over 80..anything under 70 i won't get in without some sort of wetsuit!

Lance: I think that's what I was getting at.

Lake Travis is 88 - 92 and sometimes higher depending where you are on the lake. Right now Lake Austin up by the damn is around 65.

For the past two months I've only been on Austin, however this past weekend we went to Travis and I forgot how nice it feels to be on such warm water.

Just got back from Martinez (Yuma, AZ) Wanna talk about hot water huh!!! 90 degrees in our lil secret spot cove and 87 out on the main lake. YUCK
First night we rolled in about 7pm and after we setup camp and dropped the boats we headed out to a sand bar untill 3 am it was just bearable at that time.....Sat morning awoke to 123 degree
So i would def agree with how hot and cold u r talking about. IM A FAN OF COLD WATER RIGHT BOUT' NOW

I wear a wetsuit shirt almost year round in northern MI; the water is COLD all the time except for like the last week in August where it gets around 70.

I prefer cooler water. Last weekend on the river where I ride the water was like a bath tub. Not refreshing whatsoever.
