Plans are to be at OWC on Wednesday and I am wondering if I should use my board and bindings or are they going to get beat up. It's obviously my first time there, so any other pointers would be great too.

Thanks in advance!

They wont get beat up. The bottom can get scratched if you do a bunch of sliders, but not too bad...

OWC is gentle on the board. Although, if you smack an edge on an obstacle, you can split the seam pretty easily.

If you want to keep your warranty and have never used a slider on your board, rent a board. Bring your bindings so you don't have to spend extra cash.

Thanks for the advice. I am looking forward to using the cable. I've heard that it is pretty tricky though.

Or if you've wanted to try some Ronix stuff, rent as well. I'd recommend renting because if you're board hasn't seen a slider, their's have, so just ding their's up more. The boards they give are pretty durable, while yours may not be.

don't get frustrated if you can't figure out how to load the line the first day. I see so many people come out and are like this sucks just because they can't figure out the load and release right away.

I have set my expectations fairly low for my first experience. I just want to check it out and have a good time, and I'll be happy just knowing that I am riding in the middle of November.

I tried telling you yesterday, leave the boards here, dont even bother with the bindings, you can borrow my helmet if you want, you are gonna have a blast!

get ready to be sore as hell if you've never ridden the cable

I say use your own board and take a helmet. It's a good time. I think there will be a group going down from Knoxville later on so get some practice in this time then maybe we can all get together and head down there for a couple days.

When we went down a few years ago I face planted hard on the first turn in the slider/kicker side. I thought i was going to hate it after that, but we all learned really fast

You can crack your board. Especially if you hit the yellow wedge. All my boards are cracked from hitting it. I think a slider board setup rents for $35/day. It's a hoot. You'll have fun.
