Ive just received my "new prop" from my dealer, I asked for a new and he sold it to me for 360.00, but now that ive opened it it seems it may have been used. It got some dirty spots allover and also in every blade it has a small about 3" diameter smooth spot. Does this means there bending me over..I hope so, cuase i really want an excuse to bitch at them since they alwaus treat me like crap.

Some times the manufacture will need to sand the ends of the prop to balance it.
Who made the prop?
What is it made from?
Is it an CNC prop, or hand made?
This will give people a better idea if there is a problem or not

Its a OJ prop.. for mastercaft..the endes are not sanded, its just like in the middle of each blade there is a smooth spot. And in one blade it nearly has the whole blade smoothed out..thanx for your help

I have seen a few ACME props like that right out of the box

The smooth spots on the back side of the blades is from the balancing process. The brand new ACME that came on my '05 VLX had that on one blade.

If it is an OJ and a re-work, count your blessings. Reworked OJ runs better than factory new. That is the advantage of the Acme - no rework needed. The real picky guys - top end skiers, speed freaks, etc., will send a brand new prop to be reworked and balanced before it first hits the boat. Acme is the only mfg that sells the props in that condition out of the box.
