Is there a Filter that needs to be Changed on a V-drive Transmision??

My Manual for Mercruiser says change transmision fluid and fliter, but I can find one.

Thanks for any help

No v-drive filter that I am aware of, but if the manual states it does does it give any more info? Location? Type?

transmissions have a filter

the hurth zf has a screen, you can pull and clean

the borg warners has a screen, but never needs a cleaning unless you pull the tranny out

Velvet has a screen, but no need to clean it, because you need to pull it to clean it

i have seen metal flakes on that screen all the time

no most dealers do not do anything, to tell you the truth
and most do not winterize properly also

have you ever had any problems with the plate that covers the filter leaking after removing for the first time?

it spins off

Just an FYI, the ZF and Hurth drop centers are now recommended to run SAE 30 instead of ATF when placed in commercial duty. A ton of ballast would qualify. Check with ZF or Transmission Marine regarding your serial number for application. They are much happier with 30 and it eliminates that backlash chatter.
