Yes, I know, Another Stereo Question?

OK, I did admit that I wasn't a stereo guru in another post, so here is my next question.

I have a bazooka amp that I picked up yesterday and did some of the wiring last night. My question is this, I want to have a switch on it so I can turn it off when I am not riding, and just hear the speakers at a lower volume. I used a relay, but couldn't get it to work. The remote has to be plugged in for the amp to work, but can I still use a switch like I want to, or am I just stuck with turning down the volume everytime?

I know part of the problem was with my switch wiring, and I will work on that, but I just need to know if I am waisting my time with the switch idea.

In short, yes you can switch the signal from the amp to the speaker but are you trying to turn the sub off all the way or down or what is the purpose for the switch... post some more info and I'm sure all the geniusis here will figure it out!

The red is of course positive, the black is negative, and the green is the remote from the head unit.

The amp will power my tower speakers only. The inside the boat speakers will not be amped. I want to be able to amp up the tower speakers while the boat is under way and I am riding, then be able to turn the amp off when I am not riding (talking from the water or whatever). I want the switch to turn the amp off completely when I flip it. Does this make sense?

I don't understand the need for a relay. The amp remote wire only requires something like 350mA. Take your remote wire from your head unit, put in an inline fuse, then run it to a small switch of your choice, and then to your amp. Viola, you can know turn your amp on and off without having any affect on the rest of your system.

BTW, if your remote wire is running additional amps, just use one of those quick connects to connect to your existing remote wire that goes to another amp but make sure your fuse is of the appropriate rating. Hope this made sense.
