Dental Surgery for me on Friday. I have to back out due to the fact that I will probably still be bleeding. I'm going to have a Cobe grill for a while.

Kevin- That sucks! What did you do to your knee?

J-rod sorry to hear that! But at least the Cobe grill will be gangsta. Then you can get some gold fronts, With dimonads, and fangs. Like a rapper! Good luck with the surgery bro.

I tore my ACL and meniscus a while back, still strengthening it... I want to have hella strong legs again for when I wakeboard again. This season I've just been wakeskating. If I try to go right back to what I was doing on the wakeboard, I would be risking it I think.

She means no more spots. All of the paper work had to be in by the 20th.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       08-24-2005, 2:54 PM Reply
no way...they said you could sign up the day of the event.
Old    jetgofish            08-24-2005, 2:56 PM Reply
All the paper work had to be in by the 20th, they were going to allow last minute add ins however they are not going to allow that this year. I was suprised because I doubt that all the spots are full for female riders. Oh, well ... if something changes then I will enter Saturday morning, other wise I'll wait until next year

My friend got in late, cuz there was still a few expert&outlaw spots open. Email or call and find out if there is still open spots for the class you want to ride.

Are we going to be able to anchor up along the course ?
Old    jetgofish            08-25-2005, 8:55 AM Reply
yes you can anchor against the tules. Between sets they allow boats to come into the course and tie up or leave ...

Did anyone who signed up before the 20th receive any confirmation?

My son sent his entry in about the 18th and we are not sure it got there on time and we haven't heard anything.

Teri,
Where is best area to tie up?
Does anone have a scedule of the events?

Old    jetgofish            08-25-2005, 10:49 AM Reply
There is no schedule of events from what I can see or find. The best area to tie up is any where in the tules, you'll have a better idea of the course once you get out there. You can also watch the event from the road, but with the levee break and all from last year I don't know where a good spot to park on the road would be. It's better to go by water. I'll be out there in a red and white Sanger 215 in the morning, then we plan on cutting out to do some riding of our own!

I believe it's called Bacon Island Rd. You would go down Hwy 4 past Disco and turn left on S Whiskey Slough Rd. Then left again on Trapper then R on West Bacon Island Rd. You will follow this around to the Ferry crossing and at that point you should see the comp on the water.
Old    jetgofish            08-25-2005, 11:24 AM Reply
An alternativer route, which is much longer would be to turn left on S Whiskey Slough Rd, follow this to W. Lower Jones Rd and come in from the Bull Frog Marina side of things, I'm not sure how the roads are out there since the levee break last year. Either way Lower Jones runs into W. Bacon Island Rd. If you come in from Lower Jones be sure to remember not to cross over Middle River, if you do you will be to high and you will not run into where the comp will be!

Thanks Teri! Now when you say go past Disco, you mean it is west of disco right? (from tracy go past)
Old    jetgofish            08-25-2005, 11:43 AM Reply
If you go out S Tracy Blvd you will go East on Hwy 4 then left on S Whisky Slough.

http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newaddr=&taddr=17251+Bacon+Island+Road&c sz=tracy%2C+CA&country=us&tcsz=95219&tcountry=us

Here are mapquest directions.
The best reference point to use would be the address for Bull Frog Marina which is:
17251 Bacon Island Rd, Stockton, CA 95219-8729
By using this address you can mapquest from your house to this location knowing that the comp will be SOUTH of the Marina

BQ: My son (Chad) should be entered in the Advanced division. We haven't decided if we are coming by car or boat yet, it will probably depend on what time we get to the area (if I have time to launch the boat or not).

To those going by car: I do NOT advise turning on Whisky Slough road, this would put you on the long path all around Lower Jones tract.

If you are coming from the bay area, the best way is to take 580 -> 205 to Tracy. Exit on Tracy Blvd, turn left (north). Follow Tracy Blvd until it dead ends on Hwy 4 (about 10 miles). Turn right (east, towards Stockton). About two miles up you will come to a turn off for "Bacon Island / Trapper Road".

When you make this turn the road immediatly (and I mean immediate!) forks ( "Y"). If you take the right fork you will be on Trapper road, which is the long way. If you take the left fork you will be on Bacon Island road.

Note that a portion of Bacon Island road was underwater for a few months last year so I don't know what condition it is in now.

I hope everyone had as good of a time as I did.It was good to see all of the people that did show up. I chilled on the far side of the channel taking pictures and my boy Matt Norton won the outlaws so it was a good day. Delta peeps need to be at these events to keep them going. I was kind of disappointed with the turn out, but it was still a great day. Next time lets fill the slough both sides. Brian Carillo I'm sorry I didn't get back on wakeworld until after the event. You could have totally tied up with us. We were right next to the sponsor banners on the far side, mabey next time.

Thanks for the offer.
I actually was across form you tied up to the other side of J-Rod. hopefully someday we will meet. I will be out this sunday.

J-Rod, Tahnks for letting me tie up. It was great meeting you. You have a sick boat!

Jarrod- Yes I was tied up right next to you... and I believe I have your green bungee dock tie, so I need to get that back to you, hopefully we can arrange something soon :-) Way sweet boat you have! Too bad we couldn't meet in person, oh well. Brian was also tied up with us (before I got there actually) and everyone was really cool and fun.

Evan- Thanks!!! It is the original, and there aren't many around. I think they only made like 100 the first year. I don't think I have ever seen another one in CA actually.

yup the green bungee is mine. Sorry we didn't get to meet, but now we have a good reason to!

Thank you.

BQ:

My son crashed and burned....

On the first heat he managed to fall on his first trick of each pass. First pass it was a tantrum, a trick he is normally 100% on. He got up again and went right back to it and stuck it, then threw in a couple 180's with grabs. Second pass he starts off with a 360 and falls, end of run.

Second heat he did better. Landed a trantrum, 360 and tried to finish off with a scarcrow but didn't land it (he is only about 25% on that trick).

He ended up 6th in class.

We had a good time. We were tied up a few boats down from the center dock. I am making a note for next time: bring the big fenders and anchor from the houseboat! I think I had about 8 boats straining off my dinky little anchor because I couldn't get anyone upstream of me to set an anchor or tie off to shore properly.

We left after the first heat of the experts. There were some awesome riders there.

My hat is off to the one armed rider in advanced. He certainly has a disadvantage; he can't do any grabs!
