I was wondering how you do those shots of clouds where clouds are moving really fast. I know you can do it with time lapse, but do you need specially equipment for that? Can you just leave a camcorder on a tripod for like an hour and then just fast forward in the editor?

you can do it using a camcorder or a digital slr camera. It would be easiest and cheapest to just use a minidv camcorder if you already have one. just set it up on the tripod and press record and walk away. you might want to get an extension cord to plug it in though if its near an electrical outlet. your only limitations then would just be a tape. thats why i like using a dslr better, your only limitation is the 1000 or so pictures you can fit on a memory card.

then rip it all onto your computer and in your video editor make the speed 1XX% faster.

Manny- yep! That's pretty much all you gotta do. Here's a video I made where each of the clips are roughly an hour and a half compressed to less than 30 seconds.

It can also be done on a digi-SLR or with a film camera like Jensen mentioned.
