Have a 2009 Moomba Outback.

I love this boat and just have to tell the world.

In my opinion this has to be thee best cross over boat in the Moomba stable

'09 is definetly truly flexible.

In ~7 minutes (ballast emptying time for 1200lbs) you can go from a fantastic surf boat to a really decent ski boat and then quickly set up for a really good wakeboarding/wakekiting boat.

And not one extra ballast bag needed to do any of this.

If you choose the options carefully, the boat comes direct from the factory ready to do any water sport that you can think of.

It's also just under 20' in length!

We have an 07 and love it. IMO it was the best price point boat in 07' the only boat I see beating it is the axis boat but thats wakeboard specific it seems. We just added some more weight after stock and the wakes HUGE! it looks like the re-designed the hull for 09' too

Nice looking boat! My first boat was a Moomba and served me well. Great bang for the buck!

My first new boat was a Moomba Outback as well (2002) and I loved it! It was a great boat, I didn't have any issues. It was my starter boat, I then upgraded to the XLV, in my profile.

That surf wake looks huge! Very impressed coming from a boat that is good for skiing as well.

I have an 09 Outback as well, and am also completly Thrilled with the boat. I traded up from an 00 Outback direct drive and its like night and day difference. How was your ballast setup for surfing in that picture?

Damn axis stripped to the bone cost thousands more than a loaded moomba.
Best axis I could find with the just enough options to get by was 47,000.

On my 2nd Moomba myself, 1st was a 03 mobius lsv and now have a 08 mobius lsv. Personaly just feel Skiers Choice has stepped up there game big time. If your in the market for a new or newer boat you should check them out. Just wanted to say I love this boat.

Good looking boat Ed. I like my 07 LSV also, Except my damn docking lights leak. But they are almost covered in water while picking up the rider so that could be part of it lol.

yep, that surf wake is produced just with the front 300 lb sac and a 750 lb sac in the corner.

Speed = 9.8 MPH.

4 people inside the boat (including driver)

The '09 Outback V was designed with surfing in mind

I love mine too...

You can ask my neighbors about the wake as I roll past them with 2500 lbs of water in there...

04 Mobius LSV with 800 hrs on it, still going strong.
This poor boat has been towing around 2000lbs of ballast for 4 years, people still ask me if its new....haha Great boat.

Nice Boat. I would have gotten a Wakecraft if I was you, but if you like it enjoy. The right boat is the one loved by its owner, boats are like dogs.

The Wakecraft dealer says to buy a Wakecraft... shocking.

Dan.. enuff of the wakekraft marketing. This post was not the place. See the message at the top of the Wakesurfing forum. You have long since been outed as Wakekraft dealer. You get NO CRED when you do that.

Ed, what model did you get? The Moomba website isn't great at saying what comes standard on their boats.

We have an 06 Outback V. Great value at the time, still gives me a big grin when I hit the water...

Nick, sorry.

I see I forgot to add the "V" to Outback.

I got the 2009 Moomba Outback V.

Dan DuLong... I'm sure the Wakecraft is a terrific boat, but I just don't find them very visually appealing.

I'm on my 2nd Moomba. I'm a Moomba owner for life.

I'm real happy with mine as well, '07 LSV (see profile pic) and while it's a great boat and does everything i want real well i'll fall just a bit short of a shoutout for my love of my boat, it is after all just a boat ... sorry Ed

Dan, as for Wakecraft the first one i saw at a show over a year ago i thought it was cool at first. Then i really started looking at it and climbed in, it feels small and cramped to me. Way too much emphasys on extra stuff like a bow shower? C'mon, who really would use a bow shower? And that tower setup, well i'll leave it at that. And that transom looks way to busy. And ...
Old     (ed_g)      Join Date: Nov 2005       05-22-2009, 3:29 PM Reply
I looked at the Wakecraft website and noticed that there was a statement bragging about how two surfers could surf off the back of one of their boats equipped with just the stock ballast... and the public would be hard pressed to find another brand of boat available that could do that.

Well...you certainly can with the 2009 Outback V and I've seen photos of two surfers surfing behind a Tige that was running with NO ballast.

Marketing folks can come up with the craziest things to dwell on :-)
Old     (razzman)      Join Date: Dec 2006       05-22-2009, 4:16 PM Reply
Ain't that the truth. My question is why would you want to do that? It's hard enough keeping track of one rider is doing nonetheless two!
Old     (ed_g)      Join Date: Nov 2005       05-23-2009, 3:22 AM Reply
I guess you haven't tried it yet!

It's much fun for the surfers (competition thing to see who can stay up the longest, who can spray the other surfer best, etc) and not at all a chore for the driver/observer.
Old     (seark)      Join Date: May 2009       05-24-2009, 1:08 PM Reply
I've gotta agree, Moomba is a great boat and even greater value. I've got on 07 Mobius LS and it does everything that I want it to do, wake, ski or surf. Has the stock Gravity III ballast system/wakeplate and Perfect Pass.

Give me your opinion guys, should I de-graphic my black XLV?? I've been wanting to do it for a while and I'm right at the point where I'm ready to do it. Check out my profile pic.

Love the look Newty!!

Your boat looks SICK!!!

Kraig
What are you waiting for yank those decals. Your boat would look sweet with no decals IMO. Post up some pics when your done.

Agreed Kraig Your boat would look great naked. For less than $500 u can get a set of wheels too! Imo the wheels make the look of the boat on the trailer.

Aaron I've got a blue Silverado that would match your boat, and I'll trade you for that ugly black dodge. I've been wanting a black crew for a while. Great looking set-up.

HAHA!! Thanks. I wanted a blue Dodge. It would of matched perfect but the wife said she liked black better. So I got a new truck and she got to pick the color.
Old     (newty)      Join Date: May 2005       05-24-2009, 9:18 PM Reply
Fair enough! I had to try.
At least you got the truck.
Like I said, I'd love to go buy a new truck, but when the conversation comes up the wife always brings me back to reality. The truck I have has been awesome with no issues ever. Its a little inconvenient having the extra cab vs. the crew cab and its the wrong color. I guess she's right. For the 5-10 times I actually pull with it is it really worth it? Besides we have a Charcoal Tahoe we use to pull when we have the kids. I think back when I was a kid my folks, sister, and I used to travel 1000's of miles pulling a boat in a reg cab pick-up. Talk about cramped. Of course we didn't need car seats then either.

And the extra cab is inconvenient

"Make no mistake about it, there’s an athlete in every Moomba boat. From the Team Moomba riders who dominate competitive wakeboarding at the highest levels, to the everyday Moomba owners—from six to sixty years old—who simply want to show off their talent with every ride. With their innovative styling, luxurious interiors, superior construction and unsurpassed wake performance, Moomba boats are engineered to unleash everyone’s inner athlete. That’s why Moomba – and Moomba riders – have been at the top of the inboard industry since 1980. Always strive for a personal best. Always reach new heights. Always soar to new levels. Leave a wake wherever you go. That’s the Moomba spirit."

Lance, I was looking at the Outback. The guy said they are selling the 08 d-drive for about $27k right now, very well equipped and the v-drive for about $32k. If I didn't just buy a house I would have a new boat sitting in my driveway tonight. Hopefully by the time boat show comes around next January I will be placing an order.

On a side note, my fiance freaked out when she saw the catalog sitting on the couch when she came home. She wasn't sure if she should believe me or not.
