I have my eye on the Onkyo HT-S7200 and am about to pull the trigger. Any reason why I shouldnt or anything better out there in a comparable price range. I hesitated in responding because I don't consider myself a home theater guru. That said, I'm running an Onkyo 6.1 system I purchased in 2003 and it still works flawlessly even with the addition of newer components. My neighbors say its loud.

seems like a good deal, but if it were me I'd go with this onkyo TX-SR605 and elemenal designs speakers. ED makes high quality speakers at reasonable price. I'm not a fan of Onkyo surrounds

I typically believe in buying speakers separate. You typically get way better sound than with a packaged system. That said, I picked up a used Onkyo packaged system off craigslist to use in my vacation home and it sounds fantastic when watching movies and pretty darn good (but somewhat lacking) when listening to music. If you aren't a super picky audiophile when it comes to listening to music, I think you will like it alot. The system you are viewing seems to have all the bells and whistles you want in a system these days, and Onkyo is a great name in audio. I think you will be very happy with it, especially for the price.

thanks for the feedback guys. I was originally looking at getting just a receiver and then separate speakers, but it seemed speaker packages were a lot more. I saw some great reviews for this setup and decided to go for it. I have always wanted a little more of a professional sound system, even though to some this isnt pro enough, but for me it is a huge step up. I will give some feedback once i get it setup.

My main goal was to get a receiver with some hdmi inputs and i had to find one that didnt require a separate audio cable for sound. I am very pumped for this setup.

While you can get better performance from mix/matching speakers/receivers, its worth noting that the risk of causing damage to speakers/receiver is lessened when they are a pre-packaged-pairing. When I purchased my system I was in school and worried that roommates friends or party-goers would turn it up and blow/damage something until I was assured that it was highly unlikely with my system even if cranked to extremes.

I guess the HT in a box is a easy way to go.

I cannot speak to the speakers; however, I can speak to the Onkyo name as far as recievers are concerned. I have a 747TX THX reciever I have had for 10 years and it is as good as new. I also have a newer 595 in my bedroom as well as an older stereo reciever in my basement from the 80s. I have had Sony ES, Denon, Maranz, and some of the cheap brands and something always breaks on them. I will never own anything but Onkyo for recievers.
