First off I have to thank everyone for helping me to figure out what type of Aluminum was used on my 2001 ZeroFlex Tower. My Boat is going to the shop tomorrow to have the tower welded up.

I am still planning on installing a new tower on my 2001 X-Star and need some suggestions from people who have after market towers. Specifically I need help on what brands I should be looking at and any help I can get on the effects replacing/installing a new tower on your boat you may have had if any, from replacing an existing tower (i.e. discoloration of fiberglass, issues with cracking, etc.). What I need is a tower that folds down nicely so that I can get my boat under my canopy cover and on the lift.

Any help would be great.

***If there are any tower manufacturers reading this I am looking for a new sponsor for a tower, pm me if interested, my X-Star can be your floating billboard.***

we put on lightning on ours. they custom built it to match the window lines on our boat.

We are a pretty tall family, my dad is 6'4" and im 6"2 and we have the wet sounds three up hanging on the tower and none of us hit out heads on it. tons of clearance. the tower is extremely solid, and looks great. the only thing i wouldnt recommend you do is have it powder coated directly from them. their powder coating is terrible. its supper thin and scratches really easily. if you look at the tubing they use, you can see through the paint and read the type of metal they used

I believe they used a couple different manufacturers in '01, and we started building all of them in 2002.

If you have the one we built, the pipe is probably 1.5" ID / 1 7/8" OD. Also, you should know that having anyone besides the original manufacturer weld on the tower is grounds for invalidating the entire boats warranty...so, if you have any warranty left you may want to take that into consideration.

Check out Roswell towers. They're a solid product and have always had great folding options!
