Michigan Wheel Props

Anybody use his brand prop? I know they've been in business for over 100 years but that's about all I know. I won a free prop from a local shop and upon going there to pick up an acme 1235 (current prop wanted a back up) I was informed the gift certificate is only good for a Michigan wheel prop. It didn't say that anywhere on the gift certificate but I digress.

Anyways trying to see if they have a prop similar to the 1235. So far I haven't found anything. I boat at 5300' of elevation so I need something designed for high altitude and designed to push a decent amount of weight. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll be calling Michigan wheel in the morning to see what they have to say.

I bought one on eBay for $125 (old new stock, small bore). Paid another $150 to have it bored from 1" to 1 1/8". It is a very nice propeller and is perfectly balanced. If I had to buy another prop, it would be on my list, for a cruiser prop.I could be wrong, but I believe the 14" prop is 18" or 20" pitch. The question is, "do they have a 16 pitch?" FWIW, I have put it on for surfing and it performed well with nice shape to the prop wash. It is a dog to get on plane with a lot of ballast. However, at lighter loads it preforms well. Of course, it also depends on the drive ratio, maybe you don't need a 1235?

Having run the acme 537, 1433 and 1235 I know for a fact the 1235 works best for our application. The 1235 is 14.5" and 14.25 pitch. It looks like the closest they have is a 14" and 18 pitch. I'm not sure that's going to work for me.

Your can always sell it. There are a number of DD or lower ratio V-drives that could use a prop closer to the Acme 537, like the Ambush 14x18. As you mentioned, every application is different. With my 8.1l big block and 3000lbs of ballast, the 1235 was just too low; a 16 pitch is just about perfect, but again, you can't get anywhere fast. Who knows, maybe you want to go waterskiing.

Acme 1235 has become played out now.

2313 and 2315 are kind of taking over for it unless you have prop to hull clearance issues, which most don't. You are doing yourself a disservice by going 1235 without considering these two props (or a couple of the other newer Acme props that are similar).
