good beginner wake surfer for a bigger dude?

I'm 6'3", 225lbs, and I want a board to learn to surf on, any advice?

I'm 6'1" 210lbs and when ronix were bringing our their surfers tried them out and really enjoyed them. Super easy to use and a fast rocker line even the short one supported my weight really easily.

the phase 5 oogle is going to be you best bet. it will be a little bit more expensive but because of its construction it is faster on the water, not to mention a little shorter as well. It comes in at 4"10. Unlike some of the pressed boards you can actually spin this board fairly easily once you progress to that level. The progression is very quick so spend a little extra money at the beginning and you wont need to get a new board in 2 months.

Darren: a sub 5' board for a 225lb guy to learn on? He better have a huge wave or he'll never free ride.

Best advice is buy a cheap used board off ebay that's over 5' like HL landlock, CWB Ride. I got my HL broadcast for $150 shipped and it was like new. I did out grow it in a month of riding but keep it for other beginners. I progressed to an Inland Surfer and now to a short Phase 5. ---Learn on the cheap, spend some coin on an advanced board when you get to that level.

Hyperlite Landlock is great! Nice and big easy to get up on and ride without holding onto the rope.

Broadcast might be ok, but I couldn't ride ropeless with it. I have an Inland Surfer Red Tide and it was cake to ride without the rope. That's about all you can do though as it's pretty good size with large fins. Don't need much of a wake either.

Check out our Triple X Fast Fish. We have it in 5' 2" and 5' 8". We have a couple demo boards left from last year we can make you a great deal on. We put alot of guys 250 plus on the 5' 8" and taught them to wakesurf.
