Steering on the Supra Launch SS

Question for you supra guys? I just got a 2003 Launch 22SS DD. I have it at the dealer this weekend so I went to Havasu with my Bro in law in his Malibu VLX. One thing that I noticed in driving his boat is that the steering is a lot easier than mine. When pulling a rider or a tube I can literally turn the wheel around with just my forefinger. Mine I am using both hands. Like I said I just got my Launch and have only had it out a couple of time, so my question to you supra guys is, How is your steering? Do I need to replace a steering cable or do Malibu's just steer better?

my supra u can flip it all the way around in one flick there is no resisstance at all

You probably need a new steering cable. Happened to me on my 2004.

It might not be your steering cable? It could be your rudder assembly binding on something, or perhaps a "kink" in the steering cable somewhere (too sharp of bend) adding the resistance.

My buddy has a Launch 24 that I drive sometimes, the steering is effortless.

Incidentally, this question isn't specific to boat model, as I believe most (if not all) the wakeboats are running the same helm, same style cables, rudder box etc..

Before you go getting crazy and ripping the boat apart though, get some dry graphite lube (or steering cable lube) in an aerosol. Get to both ends of the cable, and spray it generously on there at the extended positions and then work it back and forth several times, then repeat.. It might just take care of the problem all on it's own.
