I have just broken my board!!!!!! I am looking at discounted 09 boards. I am deciding between the Ronix one, Shane or Watson. Anyone have any ideas. I am 165lbs and a very aggressive rider. I like to bring most tricks into the flats. Currently i have a 07 ronix one with 07 one bindings. Any suggestions???

I have ridden all three boards. I didn't like the watson as much as the Shane or the One. I felt it didn't have as much pop as the other two. To be honest I couldn't tell much of a difference from the one and the shane other than the shane was a little looser on the water. I have a one board but wouldn't mind either.

I have ridden all three, and currently ride the watson. I like the watson because it has straight up pop, a little slower than the other two, but i like w2w better for my knees. The shane is fast with great pop like the watson, but it will take you to the flats. it also bits hard into the water on edge, but loose when neutral. I didnt like the one, the rail felt really weird and didnt hold as well on edge. the pop was crazy though, but the landings were hard.

Good deals are relative I guess. I got a 2009 Shane for $200 from my local shop a few weeks ago.

Don't buy the 08 Shane, its sloppy loose...make sure you get the 09, new board style -its MUCH better. I personaly wouldn't spend 200 on an 08, 150 tops right now. Also, keep in mind the 2010 gear just came out and is starting to drop in stores, which means good deals on 09 gear.

sloppy loose? that hasnt been my experience. its a well designed board, controlled but loose. lf has been using similar design principles (quad channels and cupped fins) for many years. they've been popular for good reason. but, yeah, the 09 is stickier (and slower, though).

Hahahaha, lmao. Joe would die for this board; however, did see his 08 for sale a couple weeks ago. Yes, the 2008 Shane is sloppy loose in comparison to the 2009 which is a lot more "stickier"...not slower though, IMO. (Message edited by justsan on September 01, 2009)

sloppy loose? no so sure about that. i thought it was too grippy. switched to smaller cupped fins = golden. and yeah, i found the 09 to be significantly slower than the 08. and yes, i have an 08 for sale...my kid doesn't ride anymore so i'm selling his board. his board's a 136...i ride the 140.

Guess I should note I ride the FLY -less weight would mean less drag making it faster than the standard Shane, my bad. Dave -you'll also want to think about what size you'll like. 08 goes up to 140, 09 to 142...at least everyone has you on the right track for a Shane, go for it.
