did you recarpet the trailor bunks with the boat the boat on the trailor? If so how did you do that? One at a time and jack the boat a little

I'm curious what you used to paint the trailer and how much of the trailer did you paint with the boat still on it and finally how did you mask to keep from getting paint on the boat?

TIA

The trailer is only painted on the outside rails right now. I'm using rustolium black. About $5 a can at Walmart. What you see is less than 1 can. I taped up the lights. I use a piece of cardboard against the boat as I go along. I think the finish looks awesome. Getting under the boat is tough without getting overspray. I'll wait till it warms up, then get the boat off the trailer to get all the understuff. Very simple, cheap and easy. And it looks pretty good. I'm sanding down rust spots and using some primer where necessary.

thanks, from what i can tell the trailer looks awesome. I would really like to do the same with mine. I'm also thinking of hrculining it. I've found some other forums where people have used it with greay success.

The bunks?

My bad I guess you mean the bunks that the boat hits at the front not the ones it's resting on. I am jut asking because I like to redo mine but I want to do them with bolts coming through from the boat side instead of lag screws coming through from the bottom. So I would have to carpet them after I mount them which would take a little time with the boat off of the trailer.

Here is the shape of the wake with stock weight with 2 adults and 1 kid in the boat. Not bad!

So with my ballast upgrades I went from the stock 400lbs to this:

Starboard: 200 stock + 350 bag = 550lbs,
Port: 200 stock + 350 bag = 550 lbs,
Belly 540 bag.
Total 1640 lbs of water ballast. (assuming bags completely full which they probably won't be.)

I'm also planning on putting 400 in sand into the boat that I can move around.
Grand total of +/- 2040 lbs!

Should be sick.

Has anyone done their own pin stripping? Looks like I need to replace this.

Just take the pinstripes off. They'll do the exact same thing.

Rob ~~ That pic was from last weekend at Willard Bay! You need to Buck up and some try this wake out! With what your doing it will be half the size but will throw you high in the air.

Rob,
Like Scott said, with that much weight in the stern, you'll need to add some ballast to the bow, probably about 4-600lbs if you run all 550 on each side. The ballast in the belly isn't far enough forward and will cause the bow of the boat to "porpoise" when at riding speed.

Keep up the great work!

Rob ~~ Will you invite me when testing out the wake, I want to see the buck and throw in person. Also head to deeper water than UT to get the true shape of that wake.

Josh, of course I'll invite you out. Well, the teak is sanded and oiled with Tranny Fluid..Looks awesome! I've started on the waxing and its looking good. Mean while I am hating the upholstery shop cause the guy is a fricken looser who over promises and under delivers. I told him the stuff looks like crap so he's gonna have to start over. Luckily its snowing out so I can have some patience.

Ut lake is pretty full now, they just barely opened the river. Was seeing over 11 feet on mon., when I was out. Good for ut lake anyway.

Rob,
Whats up with the tranny fluid? I need to refinish my swim deck. Can you post pics?

It blows me away that people can just let something like that get that bad.

Kudos to bringing it back from the dead.

Rod. Sorry for the delay. I'm still waiting for upholstery. I'm about ready to punch the guy in the face. Next Friday is the drop dead date. Refund or completion at a professional grade.

As for the tranny fluid I just got the idea from another thread and tried it. Its a nice redish color and its not sticky or slippery like some others I've tried. I'll take some pics later. Give it a try.
