I wanted to add a subwoofer to my boat stereo and am not sure what i should go with. I have an 19 foot sea ray thats closed bow, so the sub would go under the bow, but i dont know how big a sub and amp i need. i dont wanna spend alot. does any have any suggestions?

I would typically stray away from marine grade free air subs. Kicker for example is rated for marine use and is a much better sub. Make sure you build an enclosure (box) for best results. Free air subs just don't pack a punch like a sealed or ported properly built box.

Erik,

What do you have budgeted for the amp and sub? Does your budget include the box, power wire, ground wire, RCA's, speaker wire, etc?

I understand that you don't want to spend alot, but give us a dollar figure so we can help you out better, because my meaning of don't want to spend alot is different from others.

Pretty limited at that price point. I would advise to save a little more up so you don't end up with junk you are not happy with.

Series wire the voice coils to 4 ohms. Not the best but not to bad.

Dang, not much to work with. I can not recommend a thing at that price point. The wiring kit alone takes up 1/4 of your budget. Just wait until you can spend about 400-500 and get something that is decent and will last you more then just a trip out on the water. I am sorry, but just can't recommend crap.

For my sub setup in my Supra I'm running a Pioneer amp ($100) a 10" Alpine Type-R ($100) a box I made ($50) and all wiring ($50) Sub and amp were bought off E-bay, box materials were bought at Lowes, Wiring bought at my local Car Audio store (the wiring is for 2 amps, the sub, and the tower speakers) for a cheap $300 setup it sounds pretty damn good it's all I need anyway
