When we just begin our set, the stereo works great. The sub hits and the tower speakers work. After a while (time varies) the volume will turn itself down to 0 without anyone touching the face. I have checked the batteries and they are fine and I have checked the two remotes on the boat to see if something is pressing the volume button down.

I usually just turn everything off using the switches on the dash and assume it is the amp overheating so I open the hatch for a while and try again. Sometimes it works o.k. again. The stereo has never really worked well since I had a stereo place install the sub and amps.

I have two fosgate amps mounted on the walls of the passenger hatch. I have one JL audio 12" sub. and I have a clarion head unit (XMD1).

If anyone has had experience with the problem I am having I would love to hear any solutions you might have or other things you suggest I check out. If anyone knows of a reputable stereo place in the bay area (I am in Fremont) I would love to take the boat in and have things cleaned up at some point. I am happy with the sound of the system when it works but there are wires all over the place and things just look messy.

Thanks

It's a known issue with Clarion remotes, your remote cable is getting interference. Mine does it every now and then. Likely interference between the sub amp and the remote cable.

You can either reroute the remote cables or replace the remote cables with shielded cables. Take it to Liquid Trends.
