Hi,

Last season I had to replace my impeller on one of my factory hard tank ballast pumps. They are Jabscos', and replaced with a jabsco impeller.

I compared the original impeller and the new one, and they looked exactly he same.

Changing them was pretty easy, just drop the new one in and spread the supplied lube evenly on the impeller.

But since then, that pump works slowly, and I can hear the motor run harder and it get stuck in fill or empty position. I have to play back and forth with the switch and it would eventually change position.

Anybody with the same problem? How to solve this?
If it is a lubrication problem, wich one is recommended?

Thanks

If you need to replace it, wakemakers has Johnson pumps on sale for $159 right now. They will replace the JABSCOs and they are a little bit faster for fill times.

I think the pumps are still okay. I wonder if this is a common problem that is an easy fix. Is there any maintenance or these pumps (grease or else) ?

What color are your impellers? If you don't have green you may try them and I bet the problem is solved. I have also seen people polish the inside of the pumps.

No i ordered standard black impellers, I might try them. If i put silicone or another lubricant on it, will it help?

Don't use any lubricants as you don't know what they will do the impeller. The pumps are water lubricated and shouldn't need anything else. The black impellers are really stiff which is why Jabsco has gone away from them in the new ballast puppy pumps. Go green. It's so hot right now. Hopefully you get them rocking before the season is in full swing.

OK, I'll trade my block ones. What's better, getting the green one or the blue globes?
