I have a 04 Tige 24v 375hp motor w/ closed cooling, I have had a issue when I first purchased this boat with the heat exchanger not working properly, it cause the boat to spike temp at 250 and the motor goes into limp mode. The shop I took it to fixed it last year and 1st time out this year it has the same issue.....anybody taken the cooling off a boat like this before? Will it effect the computer? I assume once the t-stat gets to a certain temp it tells the computer to go to limp mode. Also if I do take it off does the line from the impeller go straight into both side of the manifold? Any help would be appreciated.

It goes to the T stat housing. and you will have to change the stat to a 140*

I'd be more interested in figuring out why it is going wrong than removing it. Most people are adding closed cooling not removing it.

I have had this problem before on my last boat that had the ZR409 closed cooled motor. It was getting vapor locked. I had to start it up and crack all the high points once the t stat popped to bleed all of the air out of the system, including venting the high point on the exchanger. Pain in the A$$. Had to donit whenever it sat for a bit.

The only thing that has to be done is modify the thermstat housing by blocking off the 1.125 port behind the thermstat and install 160 stat from the 5.7l engine and cooling system will work perfectly.

I talked to the mechanic who fixed the boat last yr. his concern with taking the system off is that the ecm is programmed for the higher temp t-stat....Moto how did you fix the vapor lock? Did you have to do this every time you went on the water?

Todd, Dom has helped alot of Tigeowners with fixing the marine power 6.0L closed cooled motor. The blocking plate and thermostat IS the correct fix for that motor. There should be several posts about it on

Thanks Dom! sounds like you are the expert on this fix, I ordered the t-stat from skidim and hopefully this will fix the issue.

So I got a tutorial from the tigeowners guys and well its kinda a big mess now. My big problem is I got the 160 t-stat from skidim and it does not fit in my housing. Dom do you have a solution for my problem? I have the marine power 6.0 motor not the pcm so I am thinking this might be the problem....Im super stuck and don't know what to do. I seriously thought the was gonna be a easy do it yourself fix.

I didnt have to do it every time just when it sat for a long duration. I had the 160 T stat because I had a heater installed also.
