Just got back from 2300 miles of vacation, have to give a huge shout to Big Ed!! Thank you so much for the pulls last Sunday, had a freaking awesome time. Your boat drives great, and the wake is second to none!! Man you are so close to nailing that 3, I could taste it. Love the new pad, you are living my dream. Thanks again, Big Ed!!!!

Doctor Octogon - very pleased to meet you, had a great time hanging with you in the boat, and watching you ride, great spins, bs 180s, and roll to reverts!!

Ed's wake definitely has the most steezo I've ever seen. I'd actually venture to say it's in a catagory of its own. I've got the same boat, but have yet to re produce his wake.

Yep, agreed. I think I went bigger on Big Shizzles wake. Big enough to put me on the injured list!

As far as my set up...it changes all the time but the general Idea is 1,400lbs-1,600lbs over stock ballast and 3 people. As you get more people you can lose some weight.Approx.1000lbs the bow,200lbs in storage next to the engine,100lbs in cockpit to balance the wake.ALL WEIGHT IN LEAD,POP-PRODUCTION BAGS.

Ohh guys...Lets ride soon!

I'm getting there. I'll have about 1200 over stock.

Man I gotta hook up with you guys and check it out, being that we all live in the same area. I have a big MAYBE as far as going out today. If all goes as planned, we will be out at Orwoods about 1. I have the wife and baby, so I didn't wanna invite myself on someone elses ride. If I do get out, I'll be the loser in the bright yellow Session.

Hey ed, how bout a lead hook up for me?
Old     (atlsackedup)      Join Date: Mar 2005       07-26-2005, 8:35 AM Reply
Big Ed...I assume that you keep all your over stock lead ballast in your boat permanently. That being said, are you able to trailer your boat with that much extra ballast in it or do you dry dock it? Didn't know if it was possible to put a boat off and on a trailer with that much extra weight in the boat...but maybe its alright to do if you have a double-axle trailer. Just curious...thanks!

I live 4 miles from the ramp so I don't worry about it too much. The only differents is I got to put the trailer deeper in the water.Ohh if I didn't have a double axle trailer,I probably wouldn't do it since I'm to the weight limit now.

ok...gotcha. Are you running some kind of lead shot in canvas bags or something like this? I don't know much about lead, I'm still in the old school fat sac stage (which totally sucks by the way...but I have to trailer 20+ miles to the ramp and I only have a single axle trailer).

Jeff ~ How much are you looking for?
I'm sure things can be arranged.I need my peeps from SoCal to visit and hopefully bring some, tho a small delivery charge may apply, since I'm not the one bringing it and is 400 miles away. They are super dope b\c they form to the shape of the place you are putting them in and are 40lbs each.
Old     (big_ed_x2)      Join Date: Jul 2004       07-26-2005, 8:59 AM Reply
Andrew ~ They are like STEEL SHOT and are pretty compact.1st they are sealed in a plastic bag and then that plastic bag full of weight is put in this other VERY STRONG and DURABLE bag with handles.

Thanks for the education Shizzle...sounds like you guys got this thing figured out. When you see tournaments, are they running lead in the boat as over stock ballast as well (i.e X-games, Gravity Games, Etc)?
Old     (jeff359)      Join Date: Jun 2005       07-26-2005, 11:52 AM Reply
They sound similar to the sand bags they have at Larson's in stockton, except the sands are 65lbs. At 40 Lbs, I might need like 20, so it may be unpractical. I was gonna put around 1000lbs of sand sacks (the ones at Larson), some under my yet to be installed ballast, and some loose in the storage compartments so I can move them around.

Still getting things together in the new boat, have 4 pumps, v drive sacks, and a custom ski locker sack, and another on the deck between the walk through. Loaded it up with about 1400Lbs of fat sack last weekend at Shasta and the wake was huge (2000 to 2500 should throw a monster). Ihad some problems plaining, so I'm gonna have to do same moving around with the weight.

I'm gonna buy 2 or 3 of the sands at larson today, and take them to my canvas guy and see if he can reproduce them, with some added features.

jeff, the bottom line is that 40 pounds of steel or lead still takes up less room than 40 pounds of sand. More bags, yes, but smaller bags.
Old     (big_ed_x2)      Join Date: Jul 2004       07-26-2005, 12:07 PM Reply
1000lbs = 25 bags

I can completly hide 800lbs under the seats in the bow, with sand it wouldn't be enough room.

what is the stock weight in the X-2? Just curious.

I'd like to find out myself but they claim 750lbs-950lbs.

Maybe a truck scale?

and I will say that the times I had the pleasure of being behind Big Shizzle's boat, it had no problems getting on plane.
