Hi guys,

I need some help deciding if I am having a good deal here.
I am looking to upgrade from a 98 Sunsetter inboard to a more convenient V-drive. We do 75% Wakeboarding and 25% Wakesurfing. Skill level is intermediate for both. Therefore, the wake plays a big role in my decision for the next boat. Plus, I don't necessarily want to crack the $30k mark.

I am considering a 2005 Supra 21v with 270 hours in really great shape. Only a few blemishes on the upholstery.
Seller's lowest limit is $26.5k.
Drawback is that it does not come with a trailer which I will need to store the boat during winter.

Any information on that boat/wake is appreciated and any help offered to decide if it is a good deal as well.
Or where to get a used trailer for this boat. ; )

Looks just like my old 2005 21V. IMO, I would never buy a boat without trailer.

I bought a 05 21v 3 years ago and still have it. I love the boat. Mine has the 650s in the rear and 1100 in the belly and its a great wake. It we have 4 or 5 people in the boat I will throw another 550 in the front and it is even better. Paid 28 for mine with similar hours but it came with a trailer. If you have any other questions about it let me know

FWIW pricing sake -

I bought a 04' 23 LSV Wakestter loaded up, new interior in 2012, hammerhead engine, trailer, 280 hours for $24k.

Seems like a nice boat, but I wouldn't call it a great deal.

I had an 05 I sold 5 years ago for just under 30K(It was dead of winter and I F*()ed up). I loved that boat. It had the 1100 and 650s. Threw a great wake. I couldn't get the wake surf wake up to par, but I didn't have additional sacs and I am a big guy. Still wish I had it. Without a trailer, that price seems a little high to me though.

That is a great boat and great wake. You will not complain about the wake. When weighted right it is one of the biggest steepest wakes of that era. Don't listen to PotatoShack guy. He has a history of bashing Supra and sinking boats. I would have said that price is a smoking deal here in the NW if it had a trailer. Probably an average deal without one. It is a $30-$32k boat out here in the NW if it is clean and had a trailer.
Different parts of the country will bring different money for sure. All and all it really depends on condition and your preferences. Those are 2 things we can't really help you with.

That price would have been good of it had a trailer. Without a trailer I'd say its overpriced.

Isn't this the first year of this boat model? Maybe I am mistaken. My buddy had an 07' 21V that we had a great time. Wakewise, pretty decent, but we now ride my 03' Malibu VLX and I'd say my wake is better.

Supra 21V wake is really poppy and steep. Takes some weight to get it up there but it's a boot we for sure. Boat drives a little bigger than it should, not most nimble 21ft'r out there.

That 26 price tag without a trailer kills the deal in my eyes. A tandem on the cheap side will run you 4K minum. More likely in the 6 k range when you outfit it. 32-33 k(which is above your 30k threshold anyways). for an 05 Supra 21v is high. You can get better boats for that kind of coin. That boats a sub 30k boat with a trailer.

had an 06 supra launch20ssv and the quality was very good for that year of boat. sold it with 300hrs on it and still ran like a champ and no real upholstery issues. downside was glued in carpet on the floor and seat bases were set over that. hard to recarpet.
although I have not personally ridden them, the forums are pretty rampant with feedback that the wakeboard wake is great but that hull never really surfed well.
not sure in '05 but my 20ssv had the 340 and it pulled like crazy with an acme1235. I heard that the 325 was more sensitive to the prop selection. the oj props that came factory on the supras at that time had a lot of "growl" when loaded down and most guys replaced with an acme variant.
good luck but if it was my coin, i'd hold out for a boat on a trailer.

I have a 2006 Moomba LSV for sale, will take 27k for it. Has tandem trailer, new interior and 775 hours.

Trust me this boat will throw a great wakeboard wake. It is steep and tall. Definitely not like a Malibu wake. You will find people that like Malibu wakes will think it is too steep and tall. More similar to Nautique wakes. If you don't like that, just load the front of the boat and not the back and it will still be big but not as steep. Here is how most of the guys weighted those if you want to go big:
Replace front bag with 1150LB bag
Replace each of the rears with 750LB bags

You will not be let down. To answer some other questions. Yes this was the first year they made the 21V. They made the 21 earlier years but turned it into a Vdrive in 2005 with essentially the same hull so it has been around. As others have said it is not a nimble boat, but still handles good unweighted and an all around solid boat.
The boat will surf. The wave is big but a short pocket. Fill that rear 750 on the surf side and just fill your front bag 1/2. Wake plate in the middle to all the way up. We surfed this boat for many years and it will surf. Compared to todays boats it will be shorter for sure, but still a fun boat to surf. Just takes some dialing....

I have an 05 21V. I love it. I considered upgrading but why? It runs great. It handles chop like a champ. It feels like it rides high out of the water which I like. The wakeboard and ballast are simple to use and work great to shape the wake. The tower is rock solid too. I've NEVER been on another 21 foot boat with more storage.
