Just posted on another thread about this, but several of my friends have owned DD Supra Launches over the last 7 yrs, and we've never been able to get a good surf wake out of them. We've tried every placement & combination we could think of, with up to 3000 lbs or so. It either has OK shape but too small, or ruined by the rooster tail.

Anyone had success with this hull? What's the secret?

So... is it a GOOD surf wake, or just surfable? We've managed to get them surfable, but you really have to concentrate to keep up without the rope. I see no reason this boat can't throw a GOOD wake, but we can't seem to find it.

Also had a chance to fiddle around with a 21V (same hull but Vdrive) a few weeks ago, and it wouldn't get as large as I expected either. My VLX's wake is easily twice the height similarly weighted. I am starting to think it has something to do with the cathedral hull.

Trace,

We have no problems getting a nice wake out of our 2000 Launch. 450lbs under seat stock hard tank, 400lbs in rear ski locker, 350lbs front custom hard tank, 300lbs lead in the nose, if we have more then say 5 people in the boat we leave it at that, if not I put one launch seat at 600lbs beside the engine cover.

Some people don't think this is safe or is a stupid idea but someone hanging on the side of the rack and leaning over really cleans up the entire face of the wave, BIG difference.

We ride at 9.5 to 10 if that helps.

I have an 04 Launch and we fill the rear tank all the way and the middle tank about 1/2. 9-9.5mph and it looks like this with only 3 people in the boat.

Those are knee high wakes. The Launch hull will produce a knee high wake at 23 mph. I'm looking for more.

Trace, for a DD you are not going to get a much better wake than that. Not a Launch wake, but I have dual launch pads. here's my DD bu. I have the wake a little bigger and more dialed, but nothing like the big V's wakes.

Thanks for the replies. I have seen good wakes out of DD's - a friend of mine has a ~99 Tige 22' DD, and it throws a good one. We also weren't able to get one out of the Supra 21V. :-?
