I'm from Aus and there is a lot of talk about wakeboarding bans on the murray river for conservation reasons. this is like saying nobody could ride on the delta anymore. just wondering if there has been any bans or plans to ban wakeboarding in any parts of the states.

No but... wow... that's crazy... what tree hugging commi-bastards would even think of such a thing...

That really, really bothers me... damn man... That's the most depressing post I've ever read. Sorry man, I hope things get better or they don't do it.

Considering what part of the country were talking about, something like that would not surprise me at all. That would really stink!

First they take away your guns and now wakeboarding. Wow that sucks.

it's down in the south east corner of aus. It borders the states of Victoria and New South Wales. nice weather, glass water, perfect. I'm almost 20 years old and i've been skiing on the river for 17 years so it's my home turf and it's the only turf i've got within 4 hrs drive. Sorry to depress you LK. lol.
It's the greenies. they have already banned it on some parts (the main wakeboard spots) and are fighting to continue. wakesurfing is banned full stop.

Not in the states, but they've already banned wakeboarding, and skiing for that matter, on ALL the public lakes in England now, as of March this year the last lake we had, Windermere, got a 10mph speed limit... it's crazy as you can still wakesurf which creates a more damaging wake! But they also say that the image and sound is damaging to the area, and that motorised watersports are incompatible with sailing.... so lets give the sailors the run of every lake in england and ban skiing on all... that sounds about fair doesn't it.

"that's crazy... what tree hugging commi-bastards would even think of such a thing..." I share those thoughts exactly!

Hope you guys can stop them...

Give it 30 years and with the cost gas continuing to rise and the concerns over global warming continue to rise as well it will only be a matter of time where only a select few would have the money or the ability to do water sports on a regular basis. I guarantee it.

We're much more subversive in how we go about banning something here in the US. It starts with complaints about wake damage or "noise", which on it's face doesn't really seem to be about wakeboarding in particular. They turn to things that could easily be attributed to wakeboarding as negative and ban them so that the boarders must go someplace out. I guess it's because here in the US we don't want to "offend" anyone.
