Im looking to re prop my 08 vlx with the monsoon. I am unsure if i should go with the acme 1235 which is pure power but can hit the rev limiter some if opened up or the 1273 which is new this yr and has a little more cup so will be a bit better for crusing to were we will ride. I have about a 15 min ride to and from riding spots. Thanks

I would go for the new 1273. I had the 1235 on my vlx with monsoon but it really knocked the top end down. For some it doesn't make a difference but if you have to get to the other end of a lake it's nice to have some top end.

I second the 1235!! We loaded my freinds 04 VLX up with all we could and it poped us out every time!

I think OJ has a similar setup to Acme's 1235 I think its the 478 or something like that. Do a search on themalibucrew.com. They have a full on data spreadsheet with props, weight, speed, rpms etc. Those guys have SERIOUSLY dialed in the wake props and from what I read worked very closely with OJ to create the prop I am referring to. Its close to the 1235 with some tweaks that the guys over there wanted. Seriously, they have a TON of information on props and several guys went through well over 1/2 a dozen props before picking the one they wanted to run.

m dizzle i have checked it out at malibu crew. The descision comes because he 1273 is a new prop that just came out this yr. So its not as wel known. I know that the 1235 is a rock solid prop but the 1273 is supposed to be the balance giving the almost same low end and not as much loss on top end. Its not that i wanna go wide open but higher rpms going 30-32 mph will burn gas to and from. I like oj too but hear a lot about how they have some very noticable vibration on take off abe at your elevation you wouldnt miss it but im at sea level.

I like the 1237 over the 1235--had them both. I hit a rock with the 1237 and got the 1631, which is the 1237 with a different cup(according the acme). The performance is amazing! We run a good bit of weight with no problem.

I am running a OJ 475 on my VLX. We run between 2000 & 2500 in ballast regularly and it comes out of the hole no problem. Cruises nicely also and is extremely smooth. Very thick material on these props.......

i ended up buying the 1273. Talked to jim at acme. he said people like the 1235 but would love the 1273 if they tried it. they just dont know about it because its newer. Its teh same holeshot but because of the cup has a bit better top end getting to and from. he said 1235 is for major ballast 3,500-4k in ballast. i run 1100 in lead and stock ballast (Message edited by nsolis220 on June 26, 2009)

Nick, I ordered the 1237 and Acme sent the 1631. They were out of the 1237--pretty much the same way I got into the 1237, by mistake.

1235 works sweet for me with or without weight I am very happy. It makes my 06 VLX turn on a dime loaded down or not. Loose a little on the top end, but who cares. If I wanted speed I would of bought a ski boat.

there were 10 of us on the boat yesterday. 5 are 250 plus.... the hammerhead and the 1235 prop gave me plenty of power! my first 'bu was under powered and under propped ...never again!
