Actually yeah Joe you're right. I'm grabbing melon If you pause it right after the handle pass, basically its just a raley then you have to pull it in otherwise you land on your side.

That trick looks freaking amazing! It's good to see, for sure! But I guess just for clarification (sort of) doesn't a rodeo need to be a full 540 degrees, and not that crazy backside three you do? Tony hawk's original rodeos were 5s (frontside), and anything less on a snowboard just makes it a backflip. And a method is a grab, straight up. I don't know why it's being romanticized...but the palmed out method is a function of style and it's not the only way to do a correct method. peacing out, brah...

That looks like a huge backside offaxis 360 with 180 on the way down. I believe a Rodeo is a inverted 540, more like a sideflip(backroll)with 180 on a snowboard, if that makes any sense. Andrew Atkisons backroll 540 is a Rodeo. You get stupid high on your double up, that is a awesome trick you stomp it clean.

no, andrew's back mobes (or anyones) "resembles" a frontside rodeo because it's a frontside rotation. A backside rodeo on a snowboard is basically a backflip (not wildcat style) with a backside 180. I know chris has done the closest thing to a backside rodeo on a wakeboard in a similar fashion to what he did in that video clip...this one was just a rewind instead of taking it that extra 180 in the same direction. It's definitely one of the sweeter tricks around...

NICE!! It combines all that is great about a trick, a spin, a grab, killer steeze and some great pop. I had to watch it like a hundred times. I got no work done in the last 10 minutes. Yes Justin, learn the trick so I can see it from the boat.

Thanx everyone for the comments on the 180 and to Mike and Robin, I just finished up a review on the Byerly 56" Legacy. If anyone is interested in learning that backside rodeo spin, get really good at hitting backside 3's. Learning them wrapped and normal would help out too. For instance this rodeo trick is actually easier wrapped up and looks cool when you method grab throughout the whole trick. When you pop off the wake, come in just like you would for a backside 3, then put alot of weight on your front foot when popping into the spin. Weight on your front foot is the key to this rotation. That'll make you trip off the wake and make sure you keep your head up and look over your shoulder. If you don't keep your head up and over your shoulder, you will end up flipping back into a moby dick.

Learned them back in 2000 on a cwb slayer board with Jason Callen. Not sure how many try's but I did them w2w for a few years before I started doing them off the double up. Back then though I did them alittle different because my bs off axis spin looked like a handle pass front flip then I learned to take them out the back. Thanks for the comments guys I appreciate it.

Haha Robin we were goofing around in mexico. Basically I take my back binding off, grip tape the board and wear a wakeskate shoe. You just don't want to fall because you can mess up your knees pretty easily. I'll throw up this night time one footer that is kinda cool in a bit.
