I'm on the phone with a guy I work with who's in DC and he starts freaking. I can hear the rattling in the background. This just happened minutes ago around 1:50pm.

I didn't even know they had earthquakes in DC.

Hopefully everyone is ok.

As one who has been through plenty of 'em, aren't they the coolest thing ever!! Just the raw power to shake the earth like that blows me away.

Here in Virginia Beach, you should have seen the looks on our faces on the 3rd floor of our building. Priceless. Most of us have never been through one so it was pretty crazy. I'll take hurricane's over that crap any day....oh wait. Thats coming Sunday....LOL

Yeah, we could feel it here in Pittsburgh. I am in a 64 story building. Everyone in the office had no idea what happened.

I was driving back to the office at the time, walk in and everyone is going on like a bunch of pansies about some earthquake or some such thing. Meh, I didn't feel any earthquake.

I was in the bathroom of a local shop owner. It sounded like a train coming through the wall.I opened the door and one of the mechanics was raising a car.I said "That lift is raising hell and vibrating the whole shop".He stopped lifting the car,but the noise and vibration didn't stop. Then i said"Is that a earthquake?"He responded "I guess so"The shop owners wife was already outside yelling "Get out of the shop it's a earthquake"I'm thinking yeah that's the smart thing to do.So i got out of the shop about the same time it quit.I've never felt a earthquake before, but now realize how powerful they are as i had friends from over 100 miles away calling and asking if i felt the earthquake.I had to communicate over Facebook and Tige Owners to contact my wife and family as Cell and phones were out for over an hour.Needless to say it was my lucky day as everyone i knew came out okay.I count my blessings everyday.

My trailer at the lake shifted 6" on the foundation blocks and pictures came off the wall.It is at Lake Anna VA. about 10 miles from the center of the earthquake in Mineral Va.

Just read that Obama issued an executive order renaming the fault on which this earthquake took place. It's now called "Bush's Fault."
