Matt, talk to some of the riders before your run, The Payton & Twelker boys, Alex Scag. they will help you out, it's wakeboarding for fun. Everyone is cool at Villa Logos. See you there.

Randy how did Alex do last weekend? Ryleigh was planning on competing in the INT next weekend but didn't know about this weekend. I will talk to her and maybe we will see you there.

I competed in the comp a couple of years ago and thought it was fun. It makes for a really long day. I have a friend that will be riding in either the advanced or pro division named Waylon Alsbury hit him up if you have any questions. As for the competition and the judging I was not that happy with it just because it seemed very biased (This is just my honest opinion and my take on it). Many of the riders that do the competition at Villa Lagos have been doing it for many years and have established great relationships with the judges and other people affiliated with the WWA/INT local to the Red Bluff/Shasta area. My first experience there I felt that some of the local veterans were judged a little easier, compared to some of my friends that came down from Oregon new to the whole scene, they tore it up on the wakeboard but got placed pretty low.

Again this is just my opinion, and I haven't been back since the first time I competed so maybe things are different.

mk so i competed in mens novice and took home a silver medal, and it was awesome! I was so stoked, the competition was awesome and WWA did a great job at putting it on. I met lots of new people and got lots of free swag. I want to go to INT this weekend, Is that a good comp to go to? As fun as WWA?

We would of liked to have spent more time there just to many other things going on. We will try to make it this weekend. Looks like a good time to camp and hang out. Hopefully they use the same boat to pull the event as they do to practice behind this time.

Yeahh the X2 was alot of fun to be pulled behind!! lol nice pics randy!

Phaeton- We try to pull practice with one of the boats that will be pulling upper divisions. This coming weekend, on Saturday, the upper divisions (Advanced-Pro) will be pulled by the Nautique 210, and on Sunday, the upper divisions will be pulled by the MasterCraft X-2. The lower divisions will be pulled by the Malibu VLX both days, along with the X-2 on Saturday, and the 210 on Sunday. So... I would expect practice on Friday to be pulled by either the 210 or the X-2.

Steve- to respond to your concern about biased judging- Not sure if you were talking about INT or WWA- you mentioned both in your post. If you were talking about INT...We have developed a system for NorCal INT that makes the judging almost totally objective. INT judging is based primarily on a point value per trick. Additionally, each division has a certain amount of style points that can be awarded. In the upper divisions we have come up with worksheets that objectify the style score. I would be very happy to review these criteria with any rider who is interested.
That being said, the most important thing when setting up an INT run is to READ THE RULE BOOK!! We invariably hear comments and complaints from people who didn't score well, and they don't know why. Almost always it can be traced to a lack of knowledge of the rules. The INT website has the most current revisions, and those are the rules that we go by. If any NorCal INT riders need a clarification of the rules, or want help setting up their run, please let me know. We sincerely want everyone to do their best, and most of all have a super fun time.
If you were talking about WWA...The format is somewhat different, but I can assure you that the judges do their very best to get a fair and accurate result. No judging system is perfect. The people who run these tournaments are doing a huge amount of work. I guarantee you that they lose money on every event. They are doing it for the love of the sport, and to provide a healthy and fun environment for the wakeboarding community. They do their best, and there is no hidden agenda to favor the familiar riders.

BTW- thanks to the Ingolias for putting on a fantastic WWA event this past weekend. Troy, Lisa, and crew- we know how much of yourselves that you pour into these events, and we do appreciate it!

Thanks for the heads up Peter. It was a good lesson for her. She needs to work on being able to adapt to a small or big narrow wake. She has the Big Wide Wake down.

That place looks really cool. I think I'm going to try and make it up for one of the later events. What constitutes Advanced and do all divisions have the option of hitting the rails?

Your absolutely right Peter, I do prefer the INT scoring format a lot better. Again this was just my opinion and it was based on a one time experience my friends and I had. I have talked to one of the coordinators and she pretty much said similar things. I'm sure it is much better now and seeing the responses from the post it looked like it was a great event and everyone had a good time. No disrespect to INT and WWA, I think it is great what they do. Just for reference it was a WWA event that I went to like 2 years ago.

Big Heavy- You should deffinately come up, the comps are a lot of fun! And to answer you're questions, the advanced division is allowed I think 3 inverts and spins not over a 360. The rule book says what each division can do. And as far as the sliders, INT has a seperate "slider division." Whereas in WWA you can hit the sliders in your run.

Unfortunatly we will not be attending the event. Ryleigh crashed Tuesday night while training and intial reports are torn meniscus. She heads to the specialist on Tuesday. Have a great event and hopefully we will be able to make it to the next one.

Dang, Phaeton was this after I messed up my ankle and we met up with you. By the way thank you for letting us use that silicone spray. My ankle is pretty messed up. That sucks about your daughter, thats a tough summer ending injury.

It was as we were heading back to the launch. I really hope she will recover fast from it. She has Softball this Fall then Snowboarding. It was a bummer to see you crash and hurt your ankle then her crash. Just remember the SkySki is much better on the body.

Those SkiSkis kinda freak me out, sitting there stationary and getting that much lift off the water. Seeing how my ankles seem to get worse in time who knows.

It's not at all what it appears to be. The falls are what you make of them. Start out slow and build your skills. You can fly at 12mph so the crashes are nothing. I have been riding at 85' at 26 mph for a couple years now with no major injuries.
